Katy Perry jumps to #1, Kygo, Selena Gomez and Maroon 5 among top debuts.
Katy Perry's lead single from her upcoming album earns Greatest Gainer honors this week with an 18 position jump to #1. "Chained to the Rhythm", which features Skip Marley is looking pretty comfortable for multiple weeks at #1, likely breaking a recent string of one week #1. No song has been able to spend more than a single week at the top since Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" dethroned The Weeknd's "I Feel It Coming", after the Daft Punk assisted hit had spent 3 weeks at the top spot (at #16, it moves up a single position this week). As a result, seven of this week's top 10 songs have already reached #1.
Speaking of Ed Sheeran, "Shape of You" spends another week blocked at #2, but "Castle on the Hill" returns to the top 10 in a big way, beating it's previous peak as it ranks at #7 on this chart. "Shape" is followed by a pair of Dua Lipa tracks, as "Be the One" remains steady at #3, while "No Lie", Sean Paul's track in which she's featured retreats from #1 to #4. Another Dua Lipa track, her Martin Garrix collaboration, "Scared to Be Lonely", reaches a new #11 peak this week. Sean Paul is also pulling double duty as "Rockabye" rebouns to #5 on it's 14th week (all of them inside the top 10).
"Paris" by The Chainsmokers drops to #6 this week. It already spent a single week at #1, but has an upcoming music video set to premiere. Another 1 week #1, "I Got You" by Bebe Rexha, is this week's #9.
Last week's biggest news was Lady Gaga's big Super Bowl performance, and this week she holds much better than expected: "Million Reasons" does drop four rungs to #8, but "John Wayne", helped by it's recent music video is up eleven spots to #10 after previously going as high as #13. "Telephone" goes up a single spot, at #29, while "A-YO" is steady at it's #31 peak. "Bad Romance" is up four to #34, while "The Edge of Glory" drops to #36. "Poker Face is Gaga's only song to drop this week.
Three songs drop from the top 10 this week: Alessia Cara's "Scars to Your Beautiful" drops from it's #6 peak to #12 on it's ninth week; Taylor Swift and ZAYN's "I Don't Wanna Live Forever", also on it's ninth week, drops from #9 to #15. Last, "Everyday" drops to #14. I'd put money on the Ariana Grande track returning to the region later.
This week's top debut is Kygo and Selena Gomez's "It Ain't Me" at #13, but Maroon 5 also get a new chance at top 10 with "Cold", which opens at #21 and follows #18-peaking "Don't Wanna Know". This week also saw the Grammy Awards ceremony on Sunday, which partially helped The Weeknd and Katy Perry due to their performances, but it also makes "Hello", the biggest song winner of that night, to re-enter at #18.
