My Top 40 - 02/26/2017

Katy Perry blocks Kygo and Selena Gomez; Anne-Marie, Bruno Mars and The Chainsmokers with Coldplay crash top 20.

"Chained to the Rhythm" by Katy Perry and Skip Marley spends a second week at number one. As predicted, it's the first track to spend more than a week in the region since "Shape of You" dethroned "I Feel It Coming". "Chained" holds off strong competition from Selena Gomez and Kygo, as "It Ain't Me" moves up eleven spots to #2. Look for these tracks to compete in the coming weeks.

Another strong mover is Ed Sheeran. This week "Shape of You" drops to #5 but "Castle on the Hill" rises four rungs to #3, a new peak. The two ÷ tracks sandwhich Dua Lipa's former #1, "Be The One". Dua still pulls double duty as "No Lie" drops to #8. Sean Paul, who leads "Lie", also claims double entries on the top 10 as he's featured on #9, "Rockabye" with Clean Bandit and Anne-Marie. (Another Anne-Marie track, "Ciao Adios", enters at #18. It automatically outpeaks her previous solo hit, "Alarm", which spent a couple months on the chart but never cracked top 30).

"John Wayne" by Lady Gaga also reaches a new #6 peak. "Million Reasons" is to date the highest peaking Joanne single at #4 (the track drops to #15 this week). Most of Lady Gaga's hits that were helped by the Super Bowl drop down from the chart this week, with only another Joanne track below "Reasons": "A-YO" drops from it's #31 peak to #40.

"Love on the Brain" jumps to #7 on it's 37th week. The Rihanna track is easily the oldest song currently charting, and reached #1 last year. It gains this week's Greatest Gainer honors.

"Cold" by Maroon 5 featuring Future reaches #10 on it's second week. This is already higher than their previous single, "Don't Wanna Know", which peaked at #18. Future reached top 10 recently on his Ariana Grande feature, "Everyday", which is #14 this week.

"That's What I Like" by Bruno Mars debuts at #12 this week, the highest debut this week. It also ties previous single "24K Magic", which peaked at the same position. Two former #1 hits drop from the top 10 this week: "Paris" by the Chainsmokers is #11, while "I Got You" by Bebe Rexha is #13. Both acts debut new songs on the chart: "Something Just Like This", which features Coldplay becomes The Chainsmokers sixth top 20 hit in under a year, while "F.F.F.", featuring G-Eazy is Bebe's fifth chart entry.
