Chart

Braintree Top 40

This week in the Braintree Top 40 brought us a surprise battle for #1 between Josh & Celina's latest breakup jam and Daina's latest obsession.  With the difference between the two songs only being 2 plays, it was Celina's two spins before and after trivia that pushed Clean Bandit's "I Miss You" to the top position and forcing Caro Emerald's "Tangled Up" to debut at #2.  "Dirty Sexy Money" gets plays from all 4 contributors as it reaches a new peak of #5 while Sam Smith's "Too Good at Goodbye" enters the top ten at #8, thanks mostly to Celina and Emily.

Emm!e vowed to make a splash this week on the charts, but unfortunately, technology got the better of her as she forgot to sign into her last.fm account to scrobble her plays on her new iPhone.  Maybe next week will be her week as she struggles to make an impact on the Braintree Top 40 from dirty Jersey.

Aside from catapulting Caro Emerald to #2, Daina sent "Thunder" to the right direction at #28 as well as shooting "Strangers" up to a new peak of #16, giving Halsey her 3rd top 20-peaking single.  Emily pushed "Whiskey" by Maroon 5 & A$AP Rocky to a new peak of #25, but otherwise played a minor role int he chart this week as her main players feel just short.

Celina, who used to be a minnow in terms of influence in Braintree, has shot up in prominence this week as she had two train rides to and from New York City this week to listen to as much music as she could instead of speaking to Josh.  This allowed "Too Good at Goodbye" to enter the top ten and finally allow Lady Gaga's "The Cure" to debut on the chart #38.  This is in part to Josh and Celina visiting Lady Gaga's father's restaurant in New York City, Joanne's.

"Call It What You Want" is the first Taylor Swift single to NOT debut in the top ten, as it instead debuts at #11.  While this could be a sign that reputation is not going to make much of an impact on the Braintree Top 40, those fears have since been quelled as Emm!e has enjoyed the leak immensely, praising the album for its variety in genre, specifically "New Years Day" and "Dancing With Our Hands Tied."

Aly & AJ continues their impressive comeback by debuting at #17.  They previously peaked at #1 with "Take Me" back in September.  After ten years out of the music industry, it is refreshing to see that they are still able to drum up enough interest to chart here in Braintree.

In anticipation of their new single debuting next week, Little Mix's "Power" finds a new peak of #15, matching the peak of "Touch," which moves up to #37.  Can their new single beat that magic number?

Next week will see many headline debuts as Taylor Swift releases her new album, although not on Spotify, which will surely hurt her numbers.  As mentioned earlier, Little Mix also has a new single out as well as Sigrid, who sang "Plot Twist" this spring.  Another dark horse is Bastille, who can be hit or miss in Braintree, and Christmas music.  While some believe Christmas music should stay in December, some residents in Braintree struggle to keep their festive cheer contained past Veterans Day.  Find out next week if Daina can pull an upset or if Clean Bandit can keep their tearful jam on top!
