Braintree Top 40

After two weeks, at #2, Dua Lipa finally pops her cherry!  "New Rules" is Braintree's latest #1 after an 80s remix hit the scene with a hilarious aerobics video attached to excite Josh into spinning it endlessly.  Celina and Emily also contributed to the song's success this week.  In fact, Celina and Emily were the only other contributors this week due to Daina being on a cruise and Emm!e living the #monasticlife and swearing off music for the past month.  More on that later though.  First, let's take a look at the top ten, whcih sees big debuts from Kelly Clarkson and Clean Bandit at #3 and #6 respectively.  "Whole Lotta Woman" is off of Clarkson's lastest album, Meaning of Life, which came out this week and received critical acclaim from both Josh and Emily.  "I Miss You" is yet another sad breakup bop by the British group that features vocals by Julia Michaels, who also appears at #18 with Maroon 5 on "Help Me Out."  After debuting at #31 last week after only one day of tracking, "Wolves" by Selena Gomez and Marshmello soar into the top ten at #9, mostly thanks to Emily.  This now makes it both Gomez and Marshmello's highest peaking song to-date.

Celina's main contributions was getting "Touch" by Little Mix and "Thunder" by Imagine Dragons to re-enter the chart at #39 and #40 respectively.  Unfortunately, she was unable to secure a spot for her biggest artist, Shawn Mendes.  Not this week, at least.  She also was unable to spin enough Britney Spears to get her onto the chart after having an epiphany that Ms. SPears still exists at 3AM one night this week.

As stated earlier, Emily provided "Wolves" with a new peak, but she also pushed "Havana" back up to #2 and kept "Sorry Not Sorry" from tumbling down the charts.  Both Celina and Emily gave Hailee Steinfeld enough of a boost to reach a new peak of #30 with her song, "Most Girls."

The highest re-entry of the week is "If I'm Lucky" by Jason Derulo, which re-enters at a new peak of #20.  WHile the song initially peaked at an unremarkable #33 back in early September, it's not until this week that Josh and Emily realized how infectious this song truly is.  Could this be another hit for Jason Derulo?

Poor P!nk earn the (dis)honor of being the biggest decliner as "Beautiful Trauma" tumbles from #6 to #21.  While the album received some praise from Josh, it hasn't gained much traction with the rest of Braintree and has looks to have peaked at #3 back earlier in October.

The biggest surprise of the week is "Dirty Sexy Money by David Guetta and Afrojack featuring Charli XCX and French Montana, which debuts at #15 after being released less than 12 hours ago.  Is this a sign of a future #1 or will it be a frontloaded debut?  We'll have to find out next week!

Speaking of next week, we have a new Taylor Swift single coming out at midnight that is sure to make a splash on the charts, while Maroon 5, Sam Smith, and Kygo all release new albums.  Aly & AJ, who previously hit #1 with "Take Me," also have a new single coming out called "I Know," so don't count them out either.  We also have Daina coming back from her cruise, which will surely add a different flavor to the charting songs.  Find out next week if we'll have another new #1 or if "New Rules" rules for another week!
