Braintree Top 40

Bit of an underwhelming week as the top 6 remain unchanged from last week.  "Don't Start Now" earns its 2nd week at #1, which follows the 2-week reigns of "Raising Hell" and "Dance Monkey."  This is also Dua Lipa's record-extending 14th week at #1 overall, shared amongst her 6 #1 hits.  The newcomers to the top ten this week include Lennon Stella at #7 with "Kissing Other People" as well as "modern anxiety" by Josef Salvat at #8, after only 48 hours of tracking.  This is thanks to Emily, who streamed both with gusto this week.  We also get Major Lazer & Khalid's latest song storming into the top ten at #9 with "Trigger," thanks to Tanya.

Frank Ocean continues to do well, thanks to Mike McCarthy, as "DHL" hits a new peak of #14 as well as "In My Room" debuting at #17.  Catie provides a major boost to Kygo & Whitney Houston as "Higher Love" re-enters at #15.  It previously peaked at #10 for two weeks in late August.  Daina put on the Braintree Top 40 playlist this week as she provided a little boost to many songs.  Her top two however were "Raising Hell" and "Don't Start Now."  Coould she be an Aitch fan though?  She listened to "Taste (Make It Shake)" twice as well as "Buss Down," which both appear on the chart at #16 and 22, respectively.  Emm!e has already been converted, as she gave a boost to "Stike A Pose" by Young T & Bugsey featuring Aitch, which backtracks to #13 in its 5th week.  Celina is the one responsible for "ROXANNE" debuting at #37 while Emily is responisble for John Legend, HRVY, and Noah Cyrus all debuting.  Breagh continues to spin Dua Lipa & King Princess exclusively, keeping "Prophet" on the chart at #29.  Mike Maguire had a quiet week, only influencing "Now I'm In It" to stay at its #4 peak.  Tanya's personal #1 of the week is "Lose You to Love Me," which is starting to have momentum to make a push for the top spot.  Can it get there?  Depends on how sad Tanya and Josh get this week, but it looks possible.

This week's #FlashbackFriday goes to "This is Why We Can't Have Nice Things," which was the top debut from reputation after its muted debut two years ago.  The song debuted at #8 and only stayed on the chart for 3 weeks, even though it's definitely one of the best from the album.  It wasn't until the week after when reputation hit Spotify that the album found success.  Fun fact: the top 6 also remained unchanged this time 2 years ago.  Guess it just happens around this time of year?

While there doesn't seem to be any new releases challenging the top spot next week, there is certainly something brewing.  We've got "Don't Start Now" losing steam on top, "Raising Hell" finding its base line and keeping steady, "Lose You to Love Me" slowly gaining traction" with "modern anxiety" getting rave reviews and "Now I'm I It" playing dark horse spoiler in all of this.  New releases of note are new Camila Cabello, Hayley Kiyoko, Billie Eilish, and Celine Dion.  Looks to be another exciting week on the Braintree Top 40!
