Chart

Braintree Top 40

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  Due to the odd schedules the holidays gave us, the chart saw a lot of change from last week.  Clean bandit has a lot to be thankful for as it continues to be the most played song in Braintree for the third week in a row, a new record.  “I Miss You” can thank Josh, Celina, and Emily for its continued success.  Camila Cabello’s “Havana” sees a resurgence back to #2 after the Spanish remix with Daddy Yankee was released.  “Havana” also became the most played song in Braintree ever, passing Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” with 147 lifetime plays.

For some reason, everyone was spinning “The Cure” this week, as it improves to a new peak of #6 following her performance at the American Music Awards.  This is strange since the song came out on Easter and had virtually died off in Braintree until the past two weeks.  Could Braintree be gearing up for LG6, rumored to be out early next year?  Another old song to climb the charts is Pitbull & G.R.L.’s “Wild Wild Love,” which finds a new peak of #15.  While this would be surprising any other week, it makes sense as a choreographed dance routine to this 2013 single occurred at Josh’s brother’s wedding this past weekend.

While Fifth Harmony is flopping in the United States, it looks as though they’ve found a home here in Braintree as “Don’t Say You Love Me” becomes their 4th charting single from their self-titled album and 1st top ten.

Unfortunately, Caro Emerald’s “Tangled Up” lost a lot of support from her homegurl Daina as she slides to #10 in her 3rd week.  Daina does bring “Broken Glass” back to the chart at #33 as long as tag-teaming with Celina to send “Woman” back up to #34.

Speaking of Celina, she certainly made her presence known this week as she gets “Learn to Let Go” to re-enter at #31 as well as getting “Green Light,” “All We Know,” “Let Me Down,” and “I Knew You Were Trouble.” To debut at #23, #37, #39, and #40 respectively.  It looks like Celina has turned to music to help her get over her recent break-up.

Emily helps her pal, Tove Lo, debut at #36 with “shedontknowbutsheknows” off her new album, BLUE LIPS (Lady Wood Phase II).  She also keeps “Silence” from falling too hard as it only slides down one to #13.

Poor Emm!e.  After promising to avenge her music-less streak this week, she forgets that you actually need to sign in to do so…  So, she again adds nothing to the chart.  BUT!  Her issue has been solved and should be ending her #monasticlife with next week’s chart (at least we can hope).

Next week, we’ll see an uptick in holiday cheer as it becomes socially acceptable to listen to Christmas music again.  While Thanksgiving put a hold on most American releases, the British market keeps New Music Friday from being a total loss as we see new tracks from James Arthur and Craig David with Bastille as well as the re-release of Little Mix’s Glory Days with three new tracks.  Can Clean Bandit finally be dethroned or will they lengthen their record-breaking streak?  Find out next week at the Braintree Top 40!
