Braintree Top 40

It's official!  “I’ll Be There” has officially spent the most weeks at #1, surpassing “The Middle” with a seventh week.  It was not without some stiff competition however, as “I’m a Mess” is making a strong push for a top spot and Daina sent “No Roots” by Alice Merton soaring up to a #3 debut.  She also got two more debuts in the top ten with “Pretty Little Head” and “Big Houses” at #7 and 8, respectively. We see Years & Years get another top ten as “All for You” debuts at #4 while Little Mix gets another one with “Shout Out to My Ex,” thanks to Celina.

Thanks to a breathtaking win in the round of 16 for England, we see “One Kiss” continue to stick around the top five while “World in Motion” and “Shotgun” see big gains to #21 and 23, respectively.  On Saturday, we see the Three Lions face Sweden, which is sure to give these songs an even greater boost, especially if they win.

The other big event this week was the release of Drake’s new album, Scorpion.  He got his first two entries on the Braintree Top 40 with “Don’t Matter to Me” and “Survival” at #26 and 38, respectively.  While no one in Braintree is a big Drake fan, most of them all at least checked the album out with all the hype surrounding it.  Emm!e and Josh also heard “Don’t Matter to Me” at dbar last weekend, with a positive response.

Emm!e had a last-minute run of plays that helped secure that #26 finish for Drake as well as keeping “I Like That” on the chart at #36.  Daina had a very patriotic 4th of July aside from blasting those aforementioned tunes.  Celina was once again the puppet for Josh as she played his beach playlist while driving to Gloucester for the 4th of July.  She also put James Arthur on repeat after learning the news that he will be retiring from music after his next album. He gets two entries with “Say You Won’t Let Go” and “Suicide” at #32 and 40, respectively.

Emily stuck to her Spanish guns, keeping “La Cintura” near the top ten as well as keeping Charlie Puth on the chart.   Breagh basically listened to Vampire Weekend all week and nothing else with “Ladies of Cambridge” being the sole entry at #27.  Poor Catie didn’t influence a single entry this week. Sara helped get Drake’s “Survival” to #38 though! Yay for Sara!

Next week, we see the release of Years & Years’ new album, Palo Santo as well as Justin Timberlake, A R I Z O N A, and Why Don't We.  Can Jess Glynne extend her record-breaking stay at #1 or will someone finally topple her?  Will it be Bebe Rexha or Alice Merton or maybe even Years & Years?  FInd out next week!

Here is this week's Bubbling Under:

1. James Arthur - Is This Love?

2. Barton Carroll - Those Days Are Gone, and My Heart is Breaking

3. Maroon 5 - Girls Like You (feat. Cardi B)

4. OneRepublic - Connection

5. Robin Aigner - Get Me Home
