Chart

Braintree Top 40

After a record-breaking 7 weeks at #1, Jess Glynne has finally fallen to #3 as Years & Years has its best week ever, thanks to Emily and Josh.  With the release of their 2nd studio album, Palo Santo, this week, the British group snags their first #1 with “All for You” as well as two more top tens with “If You’re Over Me” and “Karma”.  But that’s not all! They also get “Preacher” to chart at #38. Bebe Rexha gets her highest peak yet as “I’m a Mess” jumps to #2 this week.  She also nabs another top ten as “Self Control” moves up to #8. Celina’s favorite, George Ezra, hits the top ten for the second time with “Shotgun,” no thanks to her.

Someone else who’s having a great week is James Arthur.  Thanks to Celina, the soon-to-be retired British singer gets 8 entries on this week’s chart.  “Suicide” leads the way at #14, his highest peak yet. Speaking of the Brits, it was a tough week as England fell short of making the World Cup finals for the first time since 1966.  Braintree still celebrated their glorious march to the semis though, as “Shotgun” and “World in Motion both hit new peaks (#10 and #17) as well as “Three Lions” hitting #2 on the Bubbling Under.  Good job, boys and see you in four years in Qatar!

Both Sara and Catie both failed to influence the chart this week.  Better luck next time, ladies! Emm!e brought back some old chart favorites as “Work,” “Go Bang,” “Pentru Ca,” “I Like Me Better,” and “Delicate” all return to the chart after varied stays away.  She also got “Boo’d Up” to debut on the chart, with help from Emily and Josh, at #25. After a very successful week last week, Daina has stepped back a bit, failing to influence any entry. Had she done so, we may have seen “No Roots” at the top spot since it seems to have caught on with the rest of Braintree after Daina brought it into the top 5 last week.

Celina continued her James Arthur-only lifestyle, as we know.  She also provided a boost to “Bed” and “Feels Like Home” as well as get “Girls Like You” to finally chart in the top 40.  Emily finally admitted defeat and allowed “La Cintura” to fall off the chart. She replaced it with Years & Years, which occupies her entire top ten this week.  Perhaps she likes it? Breagh continued her love of Vampire Weekend as “Ladies of Cambridge” moves up 4 to #23. She also tried to keep “I’ll Be There” at the top, but ended up pushing “I’m a Mess” ahead of it instead.  Oops! She seems to be starting a Pixie kick now, so will we see them on next week’s chart?

Next week sees the release of new Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino, twenty one pilots, and Sigrid as they all attempt to impact the Braintree Top 40.  Next week looks to be up in the air for the top spot as it all depends on if Daina goes back to “No Roots” or if Emily continues to play Years & Years on repeat.  We’ll find out next week!

Here is this week's Bubbling Under:

1. James Arthur - Recovery

2. Baddiel, Skinner & The Lightning Seeds - Three Lions

3. Years & Years - Lucky Escape

4. Juice WRLD - Lucid Dreams

5. Dean Lewis - Be Alright
