Braintree Top 40

It was a Battle of the Brits this week as Jess Glynne released her follow-up to the 8-week #1, "I'll Be There," while Celina remembered that George Ezra existed and refused to listen to anyone else.  Unfortunately, Braintree's love for the red-headed chanteuse was too great for "Hold My Girl" as "All I Am" debuts at #1.  This is Glynne's 2nd #1 and was propelled to the top by Josh, Celina, and Emily.  Will it be able to sustain the longevity that "I'll Be There" has had?  That'll depend on if Breagh latches on.  Next, we see the Australian pop renaissance realized as Dean Lewis, 5 Seconds of Summer, and Conrad Sewell reach new peaks of #3, #4, and #10 with "Be Alright," "Youngblood," and "Healing Hands".

After 15 weeks in the top ten, which is probably a record, "I'll Be There" has finally fallen out.  Funny how it happens as her 2nd single hits the top spot.  5 Seconds of Summer racks up another top 20 eith "Lie to Me," their 3rd after "Want You Back" and "Youngblood".  While Ariana Grande's new album, Sweetener, was released this week, it didn't seem to affect the chart at all as her only entry, "God is a woman," remains at #14, her peak.  Janet Jackson makes her triumphant return to the pop world with "Made For Now" featuring Daddy Yankee, which debuts at #36 this week.  Braintree loves Janet and it's great to see her receive some love (and not just from Josh!).

Thanks to Celina, George Ezra got 10 entries on the chart this week as well as #3 on the Bubbling Under.  That's a lot of fucking George Ezra, let's be real.  Emily strayed from the BT40 playlist a bit this week, resulting in OMI's "Masterpiece" and Galantis's "Love On Me" to debut at #22 and #35, respectively.  OMI previously had a #1 hit in the US with "Cheerleader" back in 2015.  Emm!e returned to the charts this week, keeping "I'm a Mess" from tumbling off the charts at #16, down 7 thanks to the Ezra bomb.  Daina also rejoined the madness this week, getting Garbage their first debut with "Cherry Lips" at #15 as well as helping "No Roots" stay on the chart at #25.  Breagh paid her respects to the Queen of Soul, keeping "Respect" on the chart at #40.  She also jammed out to some Stevie Wonder, who appears at #2 on the Bubbling Under with "Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)".

Next week will be interesting as the glitter fades from "All I Am" and Celina re-introduces music not by George Ezra back into her life.  There's also new releases from Liam Payne, Christine and the Queens, Ofenbach & Benjamin Ingrosso, and a major banga from Jason Derulo, David Guetta, Nicki Minaj, and Willy Willem that is right up Daina's alley.  Will one of these new tracks debut at #1 or will Jess Glynne continue to add to her weeks at #1 total?  Or maybe one of the Aussies can sneak a week in?  Find out next week on the Braintree Top 40!

Here is this week's Bubbling Under:

2. Stevie Wonder - Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)

3. George Ezra - Don't Matter Now

4. Sugarland - Babe (feat. Taylor Swift)

5. Rihanna - Close to You
