"Wolves" howls at #1 for a 3rd week, Halsey's "Bad at Love" surprises.
A Selena Gomez song wouldn't be a Selena Gomez song if it didn't have a long run at the chart's summit; "Wolves" follows suit and remains at the top spot for a third week in a row. This is Gomez's 44th week on the chart (yes, she hasn't left all year) and her 24th week spent at #1. Kygo benefited from "It Ain't Me" as "First Time" became a solid hit, will Marshmello's future projects be guaranteed hits? The highest new entry comes from Halsey this week with "Bad at Love", debuting at #2; The song benefited from a last minute push in the second half of the week. It's Halsey's 6th entry this year but the first to crack the top 10; It's already her biggest hit yet. With "Bad at Love" growing at such a rapid rate, could it be the song to dethrown Gomez and Marshmello? Rounding at the top 3 is Taylor Swift with "Gorgeous" at #3 - the song dips one spot this week; Not quite as big as "Look What You Made Me Do" but it certainly has more staying power than "...Ready for It?". Swift's "reputation" will impact the chart next week and early signs are already suggesting a Taylor domination.
"Havana" by Camila Cabello & Young Thug drops one place to #4. This is "Havana"'s 14th week on the chart as Camila Cabello's 30th. Camila has definitely dominated 2017 much more than Fifth Harmony have...who are yet to crack the top 10. The question on everybodies mind last week was how long would it take for "How Long" by Charlie Puth to reach #1? The answer could be never. Puth slides one spot further away from #1, falling to #5. Even if it doesn't become a chart-topping hit, Puth should definitely be proud of "How Long"'s great chart run.
Moving up 4 spots, and consequently this week's biggest gainer, "Help Me Out" by Maroon 5 and Julia Michaels is at #6. Just as it looked like "Help Me Out" was on its way out of the top 10, it takes another leap. The song is going to need a little more of a boost to get to the very top though. She might be sitting nicely at the top but Gomez's "Bad Liar" dropped a steep 4 places to #9 this week. It's spent 26 weeks charting and is already certified as a megahit so the longer it lasts is simply a bonus. Will "Bad Liar" last long enough to dethrone "It Ain't Me" from the top of the 2017 leaderboard? Another faller this week is Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do"; the song slides 2 places to #10.
There are 2 more new entries within the top 10. Last week, Rita Ora broke into the top 10 for the very first time with "Lonely Together". A week later, Ora has her second top 10 hit. "Anywhere" debuts at #7. "Lonely Together" has dropped a steep 5 places to #11 this week so maybe Ora debuts big but drops off quick? It'll be interesting to see how "Anywhere" moves next week. A taster track from "reputation" debuts in the top 10 once again; "Call It What You Want" is new at #8. All 4 songs from Swift's album so far have cracked the top 10, I'm very excited for next week's chart.
Outside of the top 10, there are 2 new entries and 2 re-entries. The first new entry comes from Lizzo with "Good as Hell". The song is played during the credits of "A Bad Moms Christmas" which is how it made an impression. This is Lizzo's first hit, debuting at #13. The second new entry is "So Much More Than This" by Grace Vanderwaal; another debut hit, starting at #18. Both of these artists are seeing breakout hits this week...will either become megahits or megastars? "Feels Great" by Cheat Codes, Fetty Wap & CVBZ returns to the chart but fails to outpeak its previous debut. The song sits at #14. Ariana Grande and Future both see a surprise return to the chart as "Everyday" is back at #16. This is the song's 10th charting week; It's possibly the song that has re-entered the chart the most this year.
Demi Lovato sees a rather big drop as "Daddy Issues" falls 5 places out of the top 10 to #12. The song has done well for an album track, peaking at #1 and spending 6 weeks on the chart. If "Daddy Issues" gets the single treatment in the future, a resurgence could occur. Lovato's other hit "Sorry Not Sorry" drops 4 places during its 17th week- just 3 weeks away from being certified as a megahit...will it happen? Little Mix and CNCO sees a lighter decline than last week, sliding a more respectable 3 places to #17. "Reggaeton Lento (Remix)" has spent 5 weeks on the chart and is Little Mix's biggest hit this year. Kesha and Eagles of Death Metal climb 3 places to #15 with "Boogie Feet". The former number 1 has spent 5 weeks charting and is just one out of the many hits "Rainbow" produced.
Finally, this week's biggest faller (and rounding out the top 20) is P!nk's "I Am Here". The song fell 11 places this week to #20. However, peaking at #4 and spending 4 weeks on the chart without being a single is a pretty solid run.
