Chart

Billboard Hot 30

Ariana Grande's "thank u, next" launches at the top spot of the charts with robust streaming and digital sales numbers and she earns her second number one on the chart, after "no tears left to cry" also hit the top spot. "thank u, next", despite debuting with only five days of tracking, Grande still holds a strong lead over the number two spot. "thank u, next" should even grow in the coming week after it can get a full seven days of the tracking week. If "thank u, next" stays at number one for another week, it would mark her first multi-week number one, since "no tears left to cry" only spent one week at the top and then fell down until its radio caught up with its streaming numbers; however, they song stalled at number three and four for weeks. Grande likewise collects her third top ten after "no tears left to cry" and "God is a woman", which debuted at number nine. "Sicko Mode" by Travis Scott and "Drip Too Hard" by Lil Baby and Gunna both fall down one spot to numbers two and three. "Happier", the second top ten hit for Marshmello and first for Bastille, hikes up three spots to number while "Youngblood" by 5 Seconds of Summer returns to its number five peak. Juice Wrld's previous number one hit, "Lucid Dreams" falls two spots to number six as its radio push decreases and streams fall; however, the song posts its first week outside of the top five in thirteen weeks as it has been in the top five since August 17 when it ranked at number six. "Lucid Dreams" has spent half of a year on the chart and it is still in the top ten. Another song with great longevity is Maroon 5 and Cardi B's previous number one "Girls Like You", which experiences its second time outside of the top five in twenty-two weeks. Twenty-two weeks ago, "Girls Like You" ranked at number seven, and would bound up to the top spot the next week. The song stayed in the top five for the next sixteen weeks before being pushed to number six thanks to two Lil Wayne songs debuting above it, and then the song returned into the top five for another four more weeks. Cardi B again ranks at number eight with "Money", down five spots from its original debut position whereas previous number one debut "Zeze" by Kodak Black featuring Travis Scott and Offset steps down one step. Cardi B and Travis Scott both have two songs in the top ten with "Girls Like You" and "Money" and "Sicko Mode" and "Zeze". This feat has also been achieved with nobody else than Cardi B and Drake on multiple occasions with their hits such as "Finesse" with Bruno Mars, "I Like It", and "Be Careful" and "God's Plan", "Look Alive", "Nice For What", "In My Feelings", etc.  Also enjoying their half of a year on the chart is Khalid and Normani's "Love Lies" which keeps at number ten, and Post Malone's "Better Now", down two to number eleven. "Natural" by Imagine Dragons and "Eastside" by benny blanco featuring Halsey and Khalid both hold at their twelve and thirteen peaks, respectively. Ariana Grande ticks up one spot to number fourteen as "God is a woman" leads pop radio while Post Malone and Swae Lee's number eight debut "Sunflower" drop four spots. Halsey agains shows up at number sixteen as her "Without Me" bounds up five spots in its third week on the chart, due to its new music video. "Taki Taki" by DJ Snake featuring Ozuna, Cardi B, and Selena Gomez hits a new number seventeen peak as it moves up two spots to number seventeen while "Mo Bamba", the breakthrough single by Sheck Wes, also ticks up two spots to number eighteen. Another song celebrating its half-year mark on the chart, "Back To You" by Selena Gomez, drops down five spots to number nineteen and as its radio push has ended, the song looks prime to enjoy recurrency next week. "Trip" by Ella Mai falls down three spots due to its decrease in streaming; however, its radio airplay still gains this week and the song looks to rebound in the coming weeks. Drake ranks at twenty-one and twenty-three with "Nonstop", down three spots as its urban and rhytmic push has ended, and "MIA" with Bad Bunny, down seven spots in its fourth week on the chart. In between is Panic! at the Disco's "High Hopes", up two spots to a new peak. Metro Boomin's new album sends "Don't Come Out the Housee" featuring 21 Savage onto the chart at number twenty-four and Metro Boomin collects his second chart entry after "Ric Flair Drip" with Offset. Rounding out the news on this weeks chart, Ariana Grande ranks again as her "breathin'" reenters the chart at number twenty-seven thanks to its pop radio push and two days of its new video. Likewise, "Wake Up In the Sky" by Gucci Mane, Bruno Mars, and Kodak Black reenters at number twenty-eight following its official music video. Does it seem like a lot of names were repeated? Eighteen of the thirty songs on this week chart are artists with multiple songs on the charts, proof that there are reliable hit makers in 2018. First is Ariana Grande, who has numbers one, fourteen, and twenty-seven with "thank u, next", "God is a woman", and "breathin'". Travis Scott ranks at number two and nine with "Sicko Mode" and "Zeze". Cardi B has songs at numbers seven, "Girls Like You", eight, "Money", and seventeen, "Taki Taki". Kodak Black has "Zeze" at number nine and "Wake Up In the Sky" at number twenty-eight. Offset, also at number nine with "Zeze", also has number twenty-six with "Taste". Khalid's "Love Lies" at number ten complements his own "Eastside" at twelve. Post Malone ranks at eleven with "Better Now" and fifteen with "Sunflower". Halsey ranks at twelve with "Eastside" and sixteen with "Without Me". Selena Gomez is at seveteen and nineteen with "Taki Taki" and "Back To You". And finally, Drake has "Nonstop" and "MIA" at numbers twenty-one and twenty-three.
