James' Top 40 - March 11, 2015

New #1!

Notes:

  • "Billion" by: Mat Kearney takes the top spot this week, as it wins the tight battle between the Top 3. It picks up a +9 play increase, topping the +7 from "Lampshades on Fire" (#2), +6 from "She Keeps Me Up (1-3) and even the unexpected +6 from "A Taste of Silver" (#4). This is Mat's first #1, beating his career high #2 peak from "Ships In the Night". This might be able to run away with the lead if next week it can put up another big week.
  • "I Want Out" by: Young Guns flies into the Top 10, going 11-8 for a new peak. It keeps the good luck going yet again, and with the 3 songs above it starting to stall, this could seek the Top 5 next week.
  • Red climbs high again this week with "Darkest Part", going 19-12 for a new peak. This will seek the Top 10 next week, and try and best their career high peak soon ("Lie To Me (Denial)" - #7).
  • Andy Grammer stays at the right place at the right time, climbing 14-13 this week for another new peak despite not putting up a positive update. Next week will be the real challenge for the song as the stallers are starting to diminish, as now there is potentially one that can drop below #13 next week.
  • "Talking Body" by: Tove Lo finally bests its #16 peak this week, by going 18-14. This set its #16 peak all the way back on Christmas day. It looked dead a couple weeks ago, but now it has started to regain some life. This was another right place at the right time song (as many others are also).
  • As Cold War Kids are dropping their other two songs, "First" is starting to rise quickly. This week it goes 21-15 for a new peak. I said before that it wouldn't be able to replicate the success of "All This Could Be Yours" (15-19) and "Go Quietly" (16-20) did, but now it might look to do as well as them. It's starting to gain some legs, and the next few weeks should be interesting for it.
  • "Can't Trust Thots" by: Wash (feat. French Montana) climbs 26-21 for a new peak. I don't expect this to do much more, but Top 20 should be more than achievable next week.
  • "I Bet My Life" by: Imagine Dragons rises 28-24 this week for a new peak. This was at the right place at the right time, as a lot of the songs that were above it last week are starting to get purged. It'll look to climb again next week.
  • Night Riots take a big leap forward this week with "Contagious" going 36-27 for a new peak. Now this one should be hopping up for the next few weeks as it is starting to gain heavy momentum. Top 20 is not out of the picture for it next week.
  • "Untraveled Road" by: Thousand Foot Krutch climbs 34-30 this week for a new peak. Next week it'll look to climb higher. Right now, its future on the chart is a little fuzzy, but for now, it'll look to climb a bit more.
  • CRUISR take the top debut this week with "All Over" coming in at #35. This was a freebie on iTunes a few weeks ago, and it was a good one, and potentially my favorite of the free ones they have sent out this year. This one will look towards the Top 30 next week.
  • Zac Brown Band make their chart debut this week with "Heavy Is the Head" (feat. Chris Cornell) coming in at #36. This one flies over the On the Rise chart as many have been doing recently. Next week they could see another on the chart as "Congregation" by: Foo Fighters is hot right now (Zac is an uncredited feature). They probably won't have many more (if any more) on the chart since country really isn't my thing.
  • Along with topping the chart, Mat Kearney gets another song to debut, as "One Heart" debuts at #38 this week. I keep forgetting that this is a single (Christian chart), so now that I debuted it, this should climb. This picked up a +7 play increase this week. Mat keeps all of his songs from last week on the chart, as he has the bottom 3 of the chart ("One Heart", "Moving On", "Miss You").
