Chart

James' Top 40 - October 21, 2015

Notes:

  • "A Taste of Silver" notches its 14th week atop the chart, the most in the Pulse era. There are still no challengers for #1 in the future, as this is distancing itself from the rest of the chart, so this could be looking at another few weeks on top. There are three songs charging up the chart that have shots at #1, but they won't approach the Top 5 for a few more weeks (well one is in it).
  • Common Kings score their first Top 5 with "Ain't No Stopping", as it moves 7-5 this week. This still has #1 on its sights, but it has definitely slowed down to the point that it could alter its predictions. Especially if the two other songs previously mentioned start to move up quickly. This should finally break apart the Top 4 that has stayed in tact for maybe two months now. "Thunderhearts" (#4) has finally fallen down close enough to the #5 spot that it should be passable next week. The Top 3 however might need to take a little while more to break.
  • "Criminals" continues its nice pace and moves into the Top 10 this week, going 13-8. This is his first Top 10 hit since 2008, when "Light On" hit #6. For now, it looks like it should be a Top 5 hit, but it does have the potential to increase to a #1, but I wouldn't count on it for a long time.
  • Andrew Watt enters the Top 20 and Top 30 with "Seeing Red" and "Ghost In My Head" respectively. "Seeing Red" looks like a future #1, and it's probably going to reach the striking range in a few weeks. "Ghost In My Head" should be a Top 10, but my guess is that it will slowly rise to wherever it peaks. It has the potential to be a long runner.
  • "Revolution Indifference" rockets 31-17 this week for a new peak. Now it's looking like a future #1, and it has the highest chances of the three. Obviously it's very early to tell, but this could be a decent sized #1 hit, probably further than "Pressure"'s (22-26) 2 weeks atop the throne, and obviously not getting to "A Taste of Silver"'s week total. Next week should see another Until the Ribbon Breaks song, and it's not even the one I was looking at as a single. They are credited as a remix officially, but it features their vocals, as it's basically a cover that was released officially. So 5 songs for them next week, and potentially 6 whenever I decide what will be next for them. "Don't Leave 2.0" probably will have a run similar to "Bang" from earlier in the year that last a couple of weeks and gaining a peak in the 30s. Though, it does have the potential to do more damage.
  • Tove Lo scores another Top 20 hit with "Moments" going 21-20 this week. This has slowed down, but more due to the fact that it keeps getting passed up by songs below it (this week "Seeing Red" and "Revolution Indifference"). It still looks like it could be a Top 5 hit, but it will definitely take more time to get there.
  • "Never Stop" (26-24) hits the 400 play mark this week. This is still the most played song on my iTunes and probably will never be passed. It is nearing 200 weeks under its belt in a few weeks, so there will be yet another milestone for it. SafetySuit is looking at a new debut soon whenever they decide to release "Looking Up".
  • Carly Rae Jepsen scores her second chart entry with "My Type" debuting at #34. This and "Run Away With Me" (30-25) should act as dual singles, with neither really interfering with each other.
  • Hedley scores the final debut this week with "Hello" at #39. Hedley has had some past success on the chart, as this is their 5th charter. They've charted with "Kiss You Inside Out" (#3), "Anything" (#17), "I'll Be With You" (#7), and "Crazy For You" (#13). This has been pretty hot lately, so this will look to be a decent sized hit on the chart.
