Chart

James' Top 70 - June 30, 2016

I did my chart notes on time! It's a new era!

Notes:

  • "Mayday" holds the top position for a 12th week now, and is looking like it won't stop for awhile now. Literally no song is even close to it, and it's going to take one hot song to reach it (or if it burns heavily, which it won't). Just by looking at the chart, if "My Mistake" gets pushed as the third single since this is done at radio now (R.I.P. :'( ), that would have the best shot at knocking down "Mayday". I know some of y'all don't like it when songs stay forever at the top, but this one is iconic. This might be in the record books with weeks at #1 (not "Counting Stars" level though).
  • "Run or Hide" reboots into the Top 3 this week, moving 4-3 for a new peak. This one peaked at #4 about a month ago, and it looked like that'd be its peak, but it's starting to revive itself a bit (not that it was dead). This has a good shot at #2 next week, as "Wherever I Go" (2-2) has been pretty stagnant for a #2 song. Run River North will more than likely have to wait for their first career #1 with another song, as it's very doubtful this catches "Mayday".
  • Young The Giant continues to blast up the charts with "Something to Believe In", as now it goes 26-17 for a new peak. I have been loving this more and more with each listen, and this should net them a huge hit and become their biggest charter ("My Body" peaked at #8). Right now, this is "Mayday"'s biggest competition...and it's at #17 lol.
  • "Stars" just keeps reaching for the stars, as now it blasts 32-25 for a new peak. This is having a similar upbringing to "Something to Believe In", and this is pretty much a shoo-in for the Top 10 in a few weeks. This also has the potential to go #1 in the future, but for now, Top 5 looks like its peak.
  • Nick Fradiani is finally getting the recognition he deserves with "Get You Home", as it enters the Top 40 going 43-40 for a new peak. After a pretty slow start, this has seen some good movements the past few weeks (56-51-43-40). This might turn into a sleeper hit for Nick, but for now, Top 20 is definitely within reach.
  • MKTO and Ariana Grande both enter the Top 50 with "Superstitious" (55-49) and "Into You" (56-50) respectively. Both are looking like big hits for both acts, and they should keep the forward movement up for awhile. "Into You" has a chance to really blowup in the future. Both are hot ones to watch.
  • This week was a relatively slow week for debuts, as only two occur this week.
  • "11 Blocks" debuts this week at #60. Wrabel has seen the chart just once, as "I Want You" peaked at #14 last year. He probably should have two as "Sideways" missed the chart in 2014 despite having very good numbers for a song that didn't chart. I'm still peeved it couldn't chart (there was a lot of competition and some biasness from me in my long charting songs lol). This has the potential to be a decent hit for Wrabel, maybe somewhere in the Top 30 for right now. This has some blowup potential, so that projection could get moving soon.
  • The final debut this week belongs to Cheat Codes & Kris Kross Amsterdam with "Sex" at #61. This should be a big mover next week and potentially become huge in the next couple weeks. I'm absolutely in love with this right now, and I can see this being a Top 10 hit in the future.
