Chart

the cm70 - December 2, 2015

*For those who followed the chart via Pulse Music Board, this week was a Top 40, but there were 70 positions later in the week since the extension happened the next week, so those positions have been accomadated. (does that make any sense? lol)

So I've been thinking of expanding again. There have been loads of songs coming in this quarter and a lot of them are not getting debuts since the chart is really congested at the moment. I was thinking of maybe stretching the chart out to a Top 50 in the future, but not until around the new year.

Notes:

  • "The Feeling" holds its third week atop the chart this week. This has been seeing lower updates since its debut, but no one has been able to step up and claim the throne. "Seeing Red" (#2) and "Looking Up" (#3) will look to claim it next week, but both could still have to sit in the backseat if they can't put up a big update to help lift themselves.
  • Until the Ribbon Breaks score another Top 5 hit with "Revolution Indifference" moving up 6-5 this week. For the moment, this looks like its peak (or maybe #4). It has definitely dwindled down as of late and has lost its #1 projection, but it should be able to stick around in the Top 10 for awhile and could reboot itself over the next couple of weeks.
  • Night Riots officially score their highest charting single as "Oh My Heart" moves 15-13 this week to beat "Contagious"'s #15 peak earlier this year. This might have the steam to go Top 10 soon, but not for a couple more weeks. The 8-10 songs should fall out in the next few weeks, and if this can hold on, it should go Top 10.
  • "Molecules" puts up a good update this week and goes Top 20, going 22-18 for a new peak. This has taken a pretty steady ride to the Top 20; something that hasn't happened in awhile. Even though "Oh My Heart" is at the same week total and just 5 spots above it, that had big updates in the beginning before slowing down, while this has had small movements up until this week's +4 position movement, its biggest to date. This could go Top 10 actually, but it will definitely take its time getting there.
  • The top debut this week belongs to Lazyboy Empire, who debut "Vampire" this week at #25. This has been hot for the past week and a half, and is looking to continue a nice pace. This will look at the Top 20 next week. This currently has Top 5 written on it, but could go up or down.
  • "Junkyard" seems to finally becoming into its own, as it jumps 30-26 for a new peak. Not too long ago, this was looking to drop off (went 38-40 a month ago) before starting to pick up its pace a bit. This will seek the Top 20 in the future. As this is climbing, it looks like this will be Zac's only charter for now. Once this starts to fall, "Beautiful Drug" should see a third re-entry, as it is still in the 40-50 range and seeing decent updates. It could re-enter soon though.
  • Skrizzly Adams pushes his first song into the Top 30, as "Tipping Point" lifts 34-30 for a new peak. This should be a big hit on the chart, potentially a Top 10 hit with room to grow. This isn't even the first single to his new album, so it's definitely going to ride a pleasant ride till his real debut single comes out.
  • Talay Riley makes his return to the chart for the first time as a performer since "Resonance" (he's a writer on "Zero" (29-24)). "1 AM" debuts at #36 this week. It had a fair start when it came out, as most Talay songs do, but as most of Talay's recent songs, they fizzle out. This one definitely performed differently as it was able to reboot itself where his older ones never did for me (his SoundCloud songs btw). This could be a decent hit on the chart, probably a Top 30, but likely not performing like some of his biggest hits. His Island debut is supposed to come out by next year, so this should be a gap plugger until then, and he has the opportunity to score another hit with "101" soon.
  • "Don't" makes a surprise debut this week, as it debuts at #39. This spent 3 weeks on On the Rise, but hasn't been seen since the beginning of September. This hit me hard over the weekend and didn't look back. It has picked up nearly 15 plays over the past week and enough for it to make some noise to chart. Bryson saw "Been That Way" peak at #37 a few months ago, and this will look to best that peak.
  • Sam Hunt scores his second debut in as many weeks, as now "Break Up In A Small Town" debuts at #40, where "House Party" (40-38) debuted last week. Both of these should perform similar to one another, but "Break Up In A Small Town" might have the upperhand since it's more fresh, where I've been listening to "House Party" since the summer.
