Adele her comeback single “Easy on Me” claims a second week at Number 1. The song debuted at Number 1 last week with the highest opening figures of the year so far, having amassed over eighty streams on Spotify. According to my personal last.fm, Adele’s “Easy on Me” has had the most successful streaming debut week since Dua Lipa’s Number 1-debut with “Levitating”. Her success continues this week, as the single has been streamed over forty times, again making it the most-streamed song of the week with ease. Adele fends off competition from Elton John & Dua Lipa’s “Cold Heart”, which is supported by the release of Elton John his newest album The Lockdown Sessions. The song has now spent five non-consecutive weeks stuck in second place.
While “Spit of You” moves up into the Top 3 and “Seventeen Going Under” leaves the Top 10 after weeks of charting, Sam Fender secures yet another hit single with “Get You Down”, which reaches a new peak at Number 8 this week. The song is the official third single off Fender his sophomore album and was first released in early September. Initial success was minor, slowly climbing the Top 40, but after the single finally received a proper music video last week, “Get You Down” soars into the Top 10. On this list, the single marks Sam Fender his sixth Top 10-single. His biggest single to date remains “Hypersonic Missiles”, which was the British singer his first Number 1-hit and received double-platinum status.
Last week, Dutch newcomer Flemming Viguurs made his chart debut with “Amsterdam”. This week, he quickly shoots up the chart, reaching a new peak at Number 10. “Amsterdam” is his first Dutch release, which quickly saw success on Dutch streaming services and debuted inside the national Top 40 earlier this month. The song is supported by excessive playlisting and live performances at multiple radio stations. Funnily enough, “Amsterdam” is the only Dutch song inside the Top 10 this week.
The Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd score the highest debut of the week with “Moth to a Flame”, the third single of the group’s upcoming debut studio album. Swedish House Mafia are one of the most influential electronic acts of the last ten years, shaping the musical landscape with hits such as “Don’t You Worry Child”, “One (Your Name)” and “Antidote”. The Weeknd is no stranger to success himself, being one of the highest-selling artists to emerge in the 2010s and last year’s “Blinding Lights” is one of the best-selling singles of all time. Together, SHM and The Weeknd are looking at a sure-fire hit single; “Moth to a Flame” debuts at Number 20 this week.
At Number 27, Colombian rapper J Balvin debuts with the Skrillex-produced “In Da Getto”. It samples the 1993-hit “In da Ghetto” by David Morales and Bad Yard. At Number 33, English singer Becky Hill enters with “My Heart Goes (La Di Da)”, the follow-up to her successful Top 20-single “Remember”. The new hit is produced by Topic, the mastermind behind “Your Love (9PM)” and “Breaking Me”. At Number 40, DJ Snake, Ozuna, Megan Thee Stallion and Lisa from Blackpink join forces on “SG”; a thrilling new English-Spanish collaboration that arrives just in time to become a post-summer hit.
