Antoon steals Harry Styles’s Number 1, earning “Hallo” a fourth week atop the chart

In a very close race for Number 1 this week, Antoon steals Harry Styles’s Number 1-spot, earning “Hallo” a fourth non-consecutive week atop the list. Less than eleven streams separate the Top 3 this week, but it is Antoon who finishes first, only with three combined streams ahead of Harry Styles’s comeback single “As It Was”. Antoon is supported by his new EP Hallo and a string of amazing live shows in celebration of Kings Day. Harry Styles’s “As It Was” has spent three weeks at Number 1 after debuting atop the list with the highest opening numbers of the year so far. Camila Cabello & Ed Sheeran also eye the Number 1-position with “Bam, Bam”, although they settle for third place this week instead.

Meanwhile, George Ezra hits a new peak at #6 after thirteen weeks of charting with “Anyone For You”. The new single is a comeback of sorts for the young Brit, marking his first big hit since the 2018-smash “Shotgun”. Suzan & Freek also further climb to Top 10 with “Honderd Keer”, finishing at #8 this week. Kentucky-rapper Jack Harlow equals his personal career best as “First Class” moves up to #11, matching the same peak with “Industry Baby” alongside Lil Nas X. Dutch indie-artists Froukje & S10 continue to aim for their first Top 10 as well, as “Zonder Gezicht” finishes at #12 for a second consecutive week.

One of last year’s breakout stars, without a doubt, has to be The Kid LAROI. In early 2021, the young talent went viral on TikTok with “Without You”, which quickly resulted in mainstream chart success. With millions of streams every day and a collaboration with Miley Cyrus, the Kid LAROI became one of the most successful newcomers of 2021. In July 2021, he scored an international Number 1-hit with “Stay” featuring Justin Bieber. While on my personal chart “Without You” was denied the top position by Olivia Rodrigo’s “drivers license”, “Stay” did eventually work its way to Number 1. This week, The Kid LAROI released his follow-up song “Thousand Miles”. It has been met with positive reception so far and it’s looking to become another streaming success. On my list, “Thousand Miles” debuts at #25.

While “Anyone For You” reaches a new peak at #6, George Ezra already lines up another hit single with “Green, Green Grass”. The new song is the second official single of Ezra’s upcoming new record Gold Rush Kid. The song is written and produced alongside Joel Pott, whom is responsible for most of Ezra’s other hits and Mabel’s earlier career discography.

American teen singer Leah Kate debuts at #35 with her new catchy “10 Things I Hate About You”; a feel-good break-up song that could have been easily lifted from any early 2000s chick flick. Leah Kate earlier scored minor musical success with indie-songs “Used To This” and “WTF”, which helped her build a very loyal fanbase. Finally, queer Streatham-born singer Cat Burns scores her debut Top 40-hit with the heartfelt “Go” at #39. The single is already a big succes in the United Kingdom and is slowly crossing over to other European countries.
