Dutch rapper Antoon stays at Number 1 for a sixth consecutive week + new top entries by The Weeknd and Olivia Rodrigo

Dutch rapper Antoon remains unstoppable as “Hyperventilatie” earns a sixth consecutive week at Number 1. The disco-hip hop track is the most-streamed single of the week again with over 30 combined streams across all platforms. With six weeks spent atop the list, “Hyperventilatie” now ties with Olivia Rodrigo’s “drivers license” and “good 4 u”, and, Snelle & Maan’s “Blijven Slapen” as the longest-running Number 1-singles of 2021 so far. Meanwhile, The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber their “Stay” has to settle for second place again, although streaming numbers have increased this week. Rounding out the Top 3 is Antoon his other single “Leuk” featuring Big2, which climbs two places to a new peak at Number 3.

North Shields singer-songwriter Sam Fender rises two spots into the Top 10 with his acclaimed new song “Seventeen Going Under”, peaking at Number 9. It is the lead single of his upcoming sophomore studio album of the same name. The British singer first rose to prominence with his debut EP Dead Boys in late 2018 and he later won the Critics’ Choice Award at the 2019 BRITs. Chart success followed, including the Number 1-hit “Hypersonic Missiles”, taken from his first studio album of the same name. In early 2020, the stand-alone single “All Is On My Side” hit Number 1 and gave Sam Fender his second chart-topper on this list.

After an initial slow start, “Love Tonight” by Shouse finally breaks through and jumps eleven places into the Top 10, ultimately peaking at Number 10. The song was originally released in late 2017 in Australia, after which it slowly gained traction in Eastern Europe and at Burning Man 2019. More success came when the song was remixed by prominent DJs such as Vintage Culture and Oliver Huntemann, which resulted in chart success across the globe. On this chart, Shouse earn their well-deserved first Top 10-hit with “Love Tonight”.

The highest debut of the week is scored by The Weeknd with his new single “Take My Breath”, an 80s-inspired synth song partially produced by the brilliant Max Martin. The song is the lead single of The Weeknd his upcoming fifth studio album. Upon release, the song received major acclaim from critics, with many positively comparing it to Donna Summer’s 1977-song “I Feel Love” and his worldwide Number 1-hit “Blinding Lights”. The song becomes The Weeknd his landmark twentieth Top 40-hit on this chart, debuting at Number 15.

At Number 22, this year’s breakout star Olivia Rodrigo debuts with “traitor”, the fourth official single of her debut album SOUR. Although the single has not received a music video (yet), it has been sent to US radio formats and has already amassed over 275 million streams on Spotify. At Number 28, Doja Cat re-enters the list with the promotional single “Need To Know”, which recently became the umpteenth TikTok-hit for the singer. The song previously reached Number 25, aided by the release of Doja’s new album Planet Her. At Number 33, Dutch 3FM Talent Award-winner Froukje debuts with her Pride-anthem “Niets Tussen”. The song is her third Top 40-entry, following “Onbezonnen” [#11]  and “Heb Ik Dat Gezegd?” [#12] earlier this year. At Number 39, Dutch hit-singer Nielson makes his comeback with his new song “Bliksem”. It his first solo entry since the 2018-hit “IJskoud” [#6].

To celebrate the release of “Take My Breath”, I have decided to take a look at The Weeknd his chart history. The Canadian pop star scored his first entry in 2014 with the underrated “Wicked Games”, taken from his acclaimed debut mixtape House of Balloons. Bigger success followed with his first collaboration with Ariana Grande on “Love Me Harder”, which debuted atop the chart and gave The Weeknd his first Number 1. With his second studio album Beauty Behind The Madness, the singer launched himself to new heights, scoring big Top 40-hits such as “The Hills” and “Can’t Feel My Face”. The follow-up album “Starboy” proved to be an even bigger success, spawning the Top 5-hits “Starboy” and “I Feel It Coming”. As we entered the 2020s, The Weeknd topped the charts with the insanely successful “Blinding Lights”, which became his best-scoring single to date and achieved double-platinum status. Success continued with “In Your Eyes” and “Save Your Tears”, of which the latter was remixed to feature Ariana Grande. For a full overview of The Weeknd his biggest songs to date, see the Top 10 below this chart.

Hey Link! :)
Nothing can still get past 'Hyperventilatie' at #1, but I love seeing the climbs for 'Seventeen Going Under' & 'Love Tonight' into the Top 10.
The debuts for 'Take My Breath' & 'Traitor', along with the re-entry for 'Need To Know', are all awesome too!
Amazing chart once again.
Have a nice weekend!
