Flemming challenges Adele’s “Easy on Me” for Number 1

Adele takes a fourth consecutive week at Number 1 with “Easy on Me”, winning a close battle against Flemming his “Amsterdam” with a small lead of seven combined streams. The single debuted at Number 1 three weeks ago with the highest opening figures of the year so far. Dutch singer Flemming moves up to second place with his breakthrough single “Amsterdam”, having been streaming over twenty-one times this week. The single quickly claimed success on Dutch streaming services and debuted inside the national Top 40 earlier this month. “Amsterdam” is supported by excessive playlisting and live performances at multiple radio stations. Sam Fender his “Spit of You” drops one place and finishes in third place this week, barely behind Adele and Flemming.

Dutch singer Yade Lauren moves up five places to Number 9 with “In De Nacht”, earning the young talent her highest-peaking single to date. Last year, Yade Lauren scored a big hit with rapper Kevin on “Als Ik Je Niet Zie”, which peaked at Number 2 in the Streaming Top 100 and at Number 10 on my personal list. Her newest song “In De Nacht” marks Yade her first single since she left her original label Topnotch and went independent. The single is already a massive streaming success, having peaked atop the Dutch Spotify Top 50 with over 4.5 million streams.

British singer-songwriter Mimi Webb moves into the Top 10 with her new song “24/5”, taken from Webb’s acclaimed debut EP Seven Shades of Heartbreak. Following her graduation at Brighton Music College, the young star has been on a very steady climb to success, going viral on TikTok and scoring big hits in the United Kingdom. On this chart, Mimi Webb broke through with “Good Without”, which was a sleeper hit and peaked inside the Top 10 in its twelfth week on the chart. The new “24/5” moves up three places to Number 10, aided by streaming success and the pre-mentioned debut EP. It marks Mimi Webb her second Top 10-single on this chart.

The highest debut of the week is scored by Post Malone & The Weeknd with “One Right Now”. It is the second single from Post Malone’s upcoming fourth studio album. The new song is his first Top 40-entry since the 2019 Number 1-hit “Circles”, which was certified double-platinum and became Malone’s biggest hit to date. The American rapper is aided by Canadian singer The Weeknd, who recently collaborated with other pop icons, such as Calvin Harris, Ariana Grande, Doja Cat and Swedish House Mafia. “One Right Now” enters at Number 24, aided by streaming numbers and extensive online promotion.

While she just bagged another Top 10-hit with “A Second to Midnight”, Aussie pop icon Kylie Minogue already lines up another hit in the making with “Kiss of Life”, featuring English disco-prodigy Jessie Ware. The new single, which is taken from Minogue’s re-issue of Disco, debuts at Number 30 this week. At Number 34, DJ Acraze enters with a remix of the 2006 Cherish-hit “Do It To It”, which recently went viral on TikTok. The song was also remixed by ZEDD, who added the intro theme of the highly popular Netflix series Squid Game to the song, further catapulting the viral craze.

Ed Sheeran his new album ‘=’ spawns another Top 40-hit, as “Overpass Graffiti” jumps into the list at Number 37. The previous single “Shivers” is still steadily climbing the charts to new peaks, while the lead “Bad Habits” reached Number 7 earlier this year. At Number 40, Irish hit singer Dermot Kennedy makes his highly anticipated return with “Better Days”, which precedes his upcoming sophomore album. He previously scored two big Top 10-hits with “Power Over Me” and “Paradise”, which peaked at Number 10 and Number 9 respectively.

To celebrate the success of high-profile collaborations such as Post Malone and The Weeknd’s “One Right Now” or Kylie & Jessie’s “Kiss of Life”, I have decided to take a look at the highest-scoring collaborations of 2021 so far. Ranking at Number 1, is “Blijven Slapen” by Dutch hit singers Snelle and Maan. The song was an immediate success, entering the charts at Number 3, and went on to peak at Number 1 for six consecutive weeks. It currently stands as the third best-scoring overall single of the year so far, only behind Antoon and Olivia Rodrigo. Doja Cat and SZA place second with “Kiss Me More”, which spent three consecutive weeks at Number 1 in April and May, while Nathan Evans’s remix of “Wellerman” with 220KID and Billen Ted takes third place. Some other notable collabs include Elton John his comeback hit “Cold Heart” with Dua Lipa and the Dutch-Belgian crossover hit “Nu Wij Niet Meer Praten” by newcomers Jaap Reesema and Pommelien Thijs. For the full Top 10 highest-scoring collaborations of 2021 so far, check the list below this chart.
