Goldband remain undisputed and unstoppable as their insanely catchy “Noodgeval” extends its reign at Number 1 for a third consecutive week. The song finally climbed to Number 1 after twenty-two weeks inside the Top 40, earning the group their first chart-topper. Goldband is an electro-pop group from The Hague, found by three previous plasterers. Their 2019 EP Dun Smeren, Geld Verdienen was critically acclaimed and their 2021 debut Betaalbare Romantiek became a commercial success. “Noodgeval” is also slowly scaling the Dutch mainstream charts, gaining notable popularity on Spotify. Goldband fends off strong competition from Rosalía’s “Despecha”, which now enters its fourth consecutive week stuck in the second position.
Scottish favourite Lewis Capaldi also aims for Number 1 with his comeback record “Forget Me”, as the newest single jumps up a whopping fifteen places to a new high at #3. It was last week’s highest debut and is boosted by increasing streaming numbers. “Forget Me” now becomes Lewis Capaldi his highest-peaking single to date on my personal chart, surpassing “Before You Go” its peak at #4 in late 2019. It marks Lewis his fourth Top 10-entry overall. The energetic single is produced by TMS, the geniuses behind other iconic Top 10-hits such as Emili Sandé’s “Read All About It”, and Lewis Capaldi his own breakout ballad “Someone You Loved”.
Further down, Nicki Minaj reaches a new peak at #10 with the anthemic “Super Freaky Girl”. It marks Minaj her first solo release in three years and samples Rick James's 1981 single "Super Freak. On my personal list, the rapper has been scoring back-to-back hits since 2010. Some of her best-scoring singles include “Super Bass” and “Side to Side”. The new comeback record “Super Freaky Girl” is Nicki Minaj her first solo single since 2015’s “The Night Is Still Young” to peak inside the Top 10. Overall, it marks the rapper’s eighteenth Top 10-hit.
Dutch DJ-formation Kris Kross Amsterdam score the highest debut of the week with the heart pumping “Adrenaline”. It is a reworked version of Maggie Reilly her 1992-classic “Everytime We Touch”, which was later famously covered in 2005 by German Eurodance group Cascada. “Adrenaline” is not the first time Kris Kross Amsterdam rework a beloved classic in Dutch. They previously reworked “The Boy Is Mine” into the Number 1-smash “Hij Is Van Mij” and turned Olivia Newton-John’s “Have You Ever Been Mellow” into this year’s chart-topper “Vluchtstrook”. On the thrilling “Adrenaline”, Kris Kross Amsterdam are supported by Ronnie Flex, who is best known for seven Number 1-hits, and newcomer Zoë Tauran, who made her Top 40-debut this year with “Solo”. Together, the Dutch collaboration debuts at #14 this week. It already marks Zoë Tauran her highest-peaking effort to date.
Further down, Post Malone and Doja Cat re-enter the list with the sweet “I Like You (A Happier Song)” at #27, following its music video release and newfound success in the United States. The duet originally peaked at #18 in July and charted for seven weeks. Meanwhile, UK hit-singers Anne-Marie and Aitch join forces on “Psycho”, debuting at #31 this week. Anne-Marie has been scoring big hits since 2016’s “Rockabye” and Aitch regularly lights up the UK Singles Chart with hits such as “Rain”. Finally, Charlie Puth enters at #39 with “I Don’t Think That I Like Her”, earning him his eleventh Top 40-entry.
