Goldband enter fourth week at Number 1 + Sam Smith & Kim Petras score Top 10-debut

Unstoppable and unchallenged, Goldband their fantastic “Noodgeval” extends its reign at Number 1 for a fourth consecutive week. The single finally climbed to Number 1 after twenty-two weeks inside the Top 40, earning the group their first ever chart-topper. Goldband is an electro-pop band from The Hague, found by three previous plasterers. Their 2019 EP Dun Smeren, Geld Verdienen was critically acclaimed and their 2021 debut Betaalbare Romantiek became a commercial success. “Noodgeval” is also slowly scaling the Dutch mainstream charts, gaining notable popularity on Spotify. Goldband fends off Lewis Capaldi, who moves up to #2 this week with his comeback release “Forget Me”.

Meanwhile, LGBTQ-icons Sam Smith and Kim Petras score a great Top 10-debut with the captivating duet “Unholy”, entering at #6 this week. The track has been a long time coming, having been teased on TikTok since August and remixed by Disclosure during numerous live sets. After an anxious wait, the thrilling “Unholy” lives up to the hype, earning Sam Smith their highest-opening week in years and pop darling Kim Petras her first Top 40-hit on my personal chart. Overall, “Unholy” marks Sam Smith their tenth milestone Top 10-hit, being preceded by five Number 1s. With streaming figures steadily rising, “Unholy” might peak even higher next week.

Further down, David Guetta and Bebe Rexha hit the Top 10 with their global smash “I’m Good (Blue)”, peaking at #9 this week. The song heavily samples Eiffel 65’s 1998-song “Blue (Da Bu Dee)” and was recorded in 2017. Although the song was not probably released yet, it went viral on TikTok and received over 500 million streams. After a re-recording and proper promotion, “I’m Good (Blue)” has shot up the charts worldwide, even in the United States. On my personal list, David Guetta earns his seventeenth Top 10-hit, while Bebe Rexha earns her sixth. It marks Bebe Rexha her first Top 10-single since 2018’s “Say My Name” [#3], which coincidentally also features David Guetta.

Kris Kross Amsterdam’s collaboration “Adrenaline” with Ronnie Flex and Zoë Tauran climbs to a new peak at #11 this week, while Ronnie Flex his team-up “Terug Bij Af” with Flemming enters the Top 20 for the first time at #18. The Gorillaz, Tame Impala & Bootie Brown peak at #14 with the electric “New Gold” and Post Malone’s “I Like You (A Happier Song)” with Doja Cat reaches new heights at #16, aided by a new music video and increasing streaming figures, surpassing the song’s original peak at #18 a few months back.

Beyoncé follows up her Number 1-hit “Break My Soul” with the infectious “Cuff It”, which is currently climbing the international charts. It has not received a music video or other promotion yet. The song debuts at #20, supported by stable streaming figures. Steve Lacy also scores a sophomore hit following his breakout Number 1 “Bad Habit”, debuting at #26 with “Dark Red”. The song is taken from Steve Lacy's Demo and was originally released in 2017. Dutch hit-singer Yade Lauren debuts at #34 with her newest “Swim Deep”, which features rappers CHO and Kevin. Dermot Kennedy rounds out the chart’s debuts with “Kiss Me”, a tease from his upcoming second studio album Sonder.
