Lady Gaga continues to dominate the chart with “Abracadabra” as it enters a third week at Number 1. She propelled the new hit single up to the top following the release of her comeback album Mayhem. As “Abracadabra” ascended to the summit, Lady Gaga earns her first solo Number 1-hit since 2011’s “Judas” and her seventh overall. She also recently scored a chart-topper with “Die With a Smile” in a duet with Bruno Mars. Interpolating "Spellbound" by Siouxsie and the Banshees, the new Gaga-single was first teased during a commercial break at the Annual Grammy Awards, and was later released across the internet. “Abracadabra” sees Lady Gaga returning to top form, echoing back to her heyday in the early 2010s. Competition is not letting up though, as Chappell Roan eyes the crown position with “Pink Pony Club” which remains at #2 this week. If she takes over Lady Gaga, it would earn the Midwest Princess her second Number 1-hit on this list. Chappell Roan also lines up another potential chart-topper in “The Giver” which rises to #6.
Have you ever seen this one?! Following a record-breaking breakout year, Sabrina Carpenter has now commenced on the Short ‘N Sweet Tour across Europe, playing in The Netherlands and Belgium last weekend. After years of mostly unrecognized pop albums and mediocre chart performances, Sabrina Carpenter finally broke it big last year with the summer-sounding “Espresso”. Initially teased at Coachella, “Espresso” has become last year’s biggest smash hit, racking up seven weeks at Number 1 and reaching quadruple platinum status. It turned out to be, however, the first of four consecutive Number 1s, making Sabrina the first artist to score four Number 1s within a calendar year since the Spice Girls achieved that feat in 1997 and 1998. She replaced herself at Number 1 with the follow-up single “Please, Please, Please”, an incredible rare feat that was last accomplished by Adele in 2015. Following the release of Short ‘N Sweet, she scored her third consecutive Number 1-hit with “Taste”, which ranks as the second biggest hit of 2024. This makes Sabrina Carpenter the second ever artist to earn both the #1 and #2-biggest song at the year-end ranking, preceded by Amy Winehouse in 2007. To top it all off, Sabrina Carpenter also took home the Christmas Number 1 of 2024 with “A Nonsense Christmas”, truly making this her year. Supported by the ongoing Short ‘N Sweet Tour, Sabrina now lines up her next single with “Busy Woman”, taken from the deluxe edition of the parent album. It debuts at #9 this week. It earns Sabrina Carpenter her fifth Top 10-hit to date.
Further down, Jack Harlow and Doja Cat team up on “Just Us” at #29, a smooth and sexy duet that has been a long time coming. Jack Harlow is fresh off the success of “Lovin On Me” which peaked at #2 on my personal chart. Doja Cat recently released her fourth studio album Scarlet which saw Doja Cat take on a more dark persona. It spawned the hit single “Paint the Town Red”. Meanwhile, Belgian pop sensation Pommelien Thijs continues to tease her upcoming second album with the folk-inspired song “Atlas”. The album is also set to include her Number 1-collaboration “Het Midden” with MEAU. The new song starts off at #32 so far. Rounding out all the new entries is American singer-songwriter Alex Warren with “Ordinary”. It recently reached the top of the UK Singles Charts. He has already enjoyed chart success across Europe with “Carry You Home” featuring Ella Henderson.
With the first quarter of 2025 over, I have decided to rank the biggest songs of this year so far. Chappell Roan proves that 2024’s success was not a fluke and claims the best-scoring song of 2025 so far with the sleeper hit “Pink Pony Club”. British rock-pop legend Sam Fender comes out second with “People Watching”. Originally released last year as the lead single to his third studio album of the same name, it immediately shot up to Number 1. Its charting success continued well into this year, logging three more weeks atop the list. Lola Young has to settle for third place with her breakout single “Messy”. It has enjoyed a #2-peak on the weekly charts multiple times, mostly blocked by Sam Fender his “People Watching”. Lady Gaga her solo comeback smash “Abracadabra” ranks fourth while Bad Bunny his viral hit “DtMF” ranks fifth. For a full ranking, check the list below this chart.
