Lady Gaga leads while JADE and Chappell Roan secure Top 10-debuts

Lady Gaga continues to dominate the chart with “Abracadabra” as it enters a second week at Number 1. She propelled the hit up to the top last week following the release of her comeback album Mayhem. As “Abracadabra” ascended to the summit, Lady Gaga earns her first solo Number 1-hit since 2011’s “Judas” and her seventh overall. She also recently scored a chart-topper with “Die With a Smile” in a duet with Bruno Mars. Interpolating "Spellbound" by Siouxsie and the Banshees, the new Gaga-single was first teased during a commercial break at the Annual Grammy Awards, and was later released across the internet. “Abracadabra” sees Lady Gaga returning to top form, echoing back to her heyday in the early 2010s. Competition is not letting up though, as Chappell Roan eyes the crown position with “Pink Pony Club” which moves back to #2 this week. The Netherlands’ currently reigning queen of pop Roxy Dekker is also in the running for another Number 1-hit, as “Casual” holds at third, mostly supported by Dekker her new debut album Mama I Made It.

Further down, Little Mix’s JADE continues to tease her upcoming debut album with her new solo hit “FUFN (F*ck You For Now)” up at #4. Following their hiatus in 2021, the Little Mix-girls continued their solo journeys last year. Our JADE was the last alumna to have a go at it solo, debuting with the hyper-experimental pop love letter “Angel of My Dreams” in July. Though it missed the top spot upon its initial release, it later secured the Number 1-spot, making Little Mix the first girl group from which every member also scored a solo chart-topper. JADE her “Angel of My Dreams” also surpassed the success of her ex-bandmates, becoming the best-scoring Little Mix-solo hit to date. She quickly added two more solo Top 10-hits to her catalogue: “Fantasy” [#5] and “IT Girl” [#6]. All JADE’s hard work was rewarded at the BRITs recently, where she was nominated and won Best Pop. Determined to keep up that spirit in 2025, JADE now lines up “FUFN (F*ck You For Now)” as the next big single. It earns the highest new entry of the week on my chart. It also earns JADE her second best solo peak to date.

Welcome back Shania Twain – uhm, close enough, Chappell Roan! The American pop artist returns to my chart with her first new material in nearly a year with “The Giver”, a traditional country song that candidly talks about lesbian intimacy by parodying conventional country lyrical norms. Chappel Roan enjoyed an enormously successful breakout last year, when “Good Luck, Babe!” shot to Number 1 out of the blue. Her back catalogue quickly flooded the Top 40, with “Hot To Go!” and “Pink Pony Club” reaching the Top 3 years after its release dates. "The Giver" was first performed live during her debut appearance as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live (SNL) in November and teased on billboards across The States. With it being the follow-up to “Good Luck, Babe!”, this could indicate a new album coming soon. “The Giver” debuts at #7 this week, earning Chappell Roan her best opening week so far on this list. It also earns the Midwest Princess her well-earned fourth Top 10-hit.

While fresh off “Handlebars” its #16-debut last week, South Korean star Jennie lines up her third solo single with “Mantra” at #23 amidst Blackpink their hiatus. Originally released more than four months ago as a lead single, the showstopping hit now enters my list, boosted by the performance of Jennie’s first solo album Ruby. Meanwhile, Dutch rapper and pop icon Ronnie Flex also profits off the release of his fifth studio album SDL 0.5, as his single “Flemming” with S10 and and ILLIE debuts at #27. The album received positive reviews from critics and featured guest appearances from Jonna Fraser, Roxy Dekker and Mula B. Dutch singer S10 continues to tease her upcoming fourth album with “Joanne” at #29. It is a cutting song that features S10 her trademark electrical sound. She quietly collects her twelfth Top 40-entry.

Rounding out the new entries, we finally welcome the long-awaited comeback of American girl band Haim at #40. The LA-based band – comprising of sisters  Este, Danielle and Alana Haim – first rose to prominence in the early 2010s with their debut album Days Are Gone. They were then nominated for a Grammy Award and played some of the biggest festivals across the globe, including Glastonbury. The follow-up albums received similarly positive reviews from critics, while they scored a cross-over Top 10-hit on my chart with “Pray to God” featuring Calvin Harris. They also supported Taylor Swift on her Eras Tour, where they performed their collaboration “No Body, No Crime”. With their comeback “Relationships”, Haim also announced their upcoming fourth album. It marks Haim their first Top 40-appearance since 2021’s duet “Gasoline” with Taylor Swift, almost five years ago. It also earns Haim their landmark tenth Top 40-hit.

As “Het Midden” by Pommelien Thijs and MEAU nearly enter a sixth month inside the Top 40, their duet almost joins the top-scoring female duets ever – high time to rank them! Lady Gaga & Beyoncé their “Telephone” hold the highest-scoring all-female collaboration of all time with more than 127,000 points on the leaderboard. It spent five weeks at Number 1 in 2010 and is certified triple platinum as of now. In second place, we have Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX their breakout hit “Fancy” which was the highest-scoring single of 2014. Brandy and Monica rank third with their certified classic “The Boy is Mine” which held the original record for more than twelve years since 1998. More recent outings also make an appearance in this ranking, including Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP” or RAYE & 070 Shake their “Escapism”. Pommelien and MEAU their “Het Midden” already claims the record for most successful Dutch female duet of all time.
