With incredible streaming figures and no sign of slowing down, Dutch pop favourites Maan & Goldband take “Stiekem” into a fourth consecutive week at Number 1. The synth-heavy collaboration has become the fastest-scoring song of 2022 so far, earning 40,000 points within only four weeks of charting, earning gold status. “Stiekem” overtakes the record from Harry Styles his “As It Was”, which needed five weeks to reach the milestone. On this week its chart, “Stiekem” has earned over thirty combined streams across all platforms. Taylor Swift her ex-chart-topper “Anti-Hero” is not far behind, finishing in second place for a fourth consecutive week. Mimi Webb joins the race for Number 1 with “Ghost of You”, finishing in third place this week.
Harry Styles moves into the Top 10 with his latest radio single “Music for a Sushi Restaurant”, peaking at #9 this week. It is the third release from the singer his hit album Harry’s House, which has previously spawned the Number 1 “As It Was” and the Top 3-song “Late Night Talking”. The new “Sushi” would have been a major success on my personal list already, but since it did not have an official single release, it was ineligible to chart. With a fishy music video to support the funk-jazz song, “Sushi” becomes Harry Styles his milestone tenth Top 10-entry.
Inside the Top 20, SZA reaches for the Top 10 with her newest single “Shirt”, finishing at #11 this week. It has been revealed to be the lead single of her highly anticipated second studio album S.O.S, scheduled to release in December, which will also include the Top 3-hits “Good Days” and “I Hate U”. Tiësto and Tate McRae continue to climb with the pop-EDM cross-over “10:35”, peaking at #14, while both Steve Lacy and Dermot Kennedy rebound with “Dark Red” and “Kiss Me”, respectively, though they do not surpass their original peaks. Fred Again… & Romy fly into the Top 20 with their newest collaboration “Strong”, peaking at #19 on this week’s chart.
British singer-songwriter Raye has not had the most easy-going pop career. She had scored big with the collaborations “You Don’t Know Me” with Jax Jones and “Bed” with Joel Corry, but never quite found her footing in the UK pop scene, despite penning some absolute classics for other artists. In 2021, Raye infamously parted ways with Polydor Records, who had been withholding her debut album for several years. All those struggles are now finally seeming to pay off, as Raye is on the verge of scoring her first big solo hit with “Escapism”. The single, featuring 070 Shake, has become a streaming success despite all the Christmas songs overtaking the charts, and has been predicted to hit the UK Top 20 this week. It could become Raye her well-deserved big break. On my personal list, “Escapism” becomes the highest new entry of the week at #12, earning Raye her highest opening week to date and her highest-peaking lead credit so far.
Fred Again… continues his momentum as “Delilah (Pull Me Out of This)” debuts at #28 and earns the British DJ his third Top 40-hit. He is boosted by the announcement he is one of the headlining acts of Down The Rabbit Hole Festival in The Netherlands 2023. Christmas King Michael Bublé makes his annual return to the list with the warm classic “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas”. It, however, marks the first time this particular song enters my chart. It debuts at #37. Dutch rapper-turned-singer Snelle rounds out the Top 40 with his “5 Voor 12”.
