Noah Kahan continues to dominate the Top 2

Noah Kahan continues his season, as “Stick Season” enters a fifth consecutive week at Number 1. His collaboration “Homesick” with Sam Fender maintains its position in second place. “Stick Season” is now shaping up to become one of the most-successful and longest-running Number 1s by a male solo artist. The 2020s so far have been dominated by women, with the last big male solo Number 1 being “Bad Habit” by Steve Lacy. The longest-running male solo Number 1-hit remains Harry Styles’s “As It Was”, which spent nine whopping weeks leading the chart. Noah Kahan would need more stamina to match or take over that record, but do not count him out by any means.

British girl group – easily more a female rock group – The Last Dinner Party re-enter the Top 10 with their breakout hit “Nothing Matters”. The rock group signed with Island Records before releasing their debut single and were awarded the Rising Star Brit Award in December 2023, winning the BBC Sound of 2024 poll. “Nothing Matters” then peaked at #7 on my personal list, a peak they equal again this week. The Last Dinner Party their resurgence has been supported by the release of their debut album: Prelude of Ecstasy. The record is set to debut atop the UK Albums Charts this week and was met with universal acclaim.

Madonna’s “Popular” reaches the Top 5 with week, marking Madonna her first Top 5-peak in sixteen years – her last being 2008’s “Miles Away”. Megan Thee Stallion aims for the Top 10 with her newest diss track “Hiss”, peaking at #13 boosted by an increase in streaming figures. Hannah Mae moves up to #15 with her first solo hit “Waterdicht”. She last reached Number 1 with her duet “Wat Wil Je Van Mij” with Metejoor. Noah Kahan also continues his success, as “Dial Drunk” featuring Post Malone reaches #17. Antoon breaks the Top 20 with “Blindelings”, his first solo Top 20-hit since 2022’s Top 10-entry “Klop, Klop”.

American singer-songwriter Benson Boone earns the top debut of the week with “Beautiful Things”. In 2021, he auditioned for American Idol and started a TikTok-account, which quickly went viral and released his debut single “Ghost Town”. The song became an unexpected chart success in Norway, the Netherlands and other European countries. Earlier this year, he released the folk rock track “Beautiful Things”, which also went viral and subsequently became an ever bigger chart hit than “Ghost Town”. It is currently in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. On my personal list, the single secures a debut at #26. It is his very first Top 40-hit on my chart.

Further down, Grammy-winning singer and singer-songwriter Victoria Monét debuts at #37 with her breakout hit “On My Mama”. It’s the song that secured Victoria her Grammy win for Best New Artist. Previously she has written multiple chart hits for Ariana Grande, including the multi-platinum Number 1-smash “7 Rings”. Grammy-nominated rapper Ice Spice debuts at #39 with “Think U The Shit (Fart)” – a fun viral song that is set to be included on her upcoming debut album. It marks Ice Spice her very first solo Top 40-hit and her fifth overall.
