Olivia Rodrigo enters a fifth week at Number 1 with “drivers license”, while Dua Lipa claims the highest opening numbers of 2021 so far

Olivia Rodrigo enters a fifth consecutive week at Number 1 with the acclaimed “drivers license”. Within the first month of its release, "drivers license" broke Spotify's record twice for most daily streams ever for a non-holiday song, culminating in over 335 million streams. On this list, Olivia Rodrigo her reign begins to weaken following multiple weeks of easy dominance. SZA is eyeing the Number 1-position with “Good Days”, which could become the singer’s first chart-topper on this list. SZA her streaming numbers continue on Spotify continue to rise, although “drivers license” has higher numbers.

New competition for Number 1 arrives with “We’re Good” by Dua Lipa, as the new song debuts at Number 5 this week. The single is taken from the deluxe version of “Future Nostalgia”, Lipa her critically acclaimed sophomore album. The album already spawned eight Top 5-hits – now adding a ninth – and three multi-platinum Number 1s. The album’s lead “Don’t Start Now” spent ten weeks atop the chart, while the follow-up single “Physical” was the best-scoring song of 2020. Recently, “Levitating” spent seven weeks atop the chart. The new single “We’re Good” is Dua Lipa her twenty-first single to peak inside the Top 10. Additionally, “We’re Good” has the highest opening week of any single in 2021 and is the first single of 2021 to debut within the Top 10.

“Wellerman” by Nathan Evans continues to impress, as the sea shanty soars into the Top 10 with strong force. The DJ rose to fame while performing sea shanties on TikTok, inspiring the ShantyTok movement which was met with viral success. The Scot cleverly translated the TikTok-craze into a proper and commercial song, resulting in “Wellerman (Remix)”. The single has already debuted at Number 3 on the Official UK Chart and is gradually climbing the European charts as well. On this list, “Wellerman” peaks at Number 4, earning Nathan Evans his first Top 10-hit.

Another viral TikTok-hit peaks in the Top 10 this week: “Streets” by Doja Cat. The American is no stranger to viral success, as she first rose to fame the internet sensation “Mooo!”. Doja Cat later scored a Number 1-hit with the disco-infused “Say So”, which was also aided by TikTok-success and a highly anticipated remix with Nicki Minaj. Unlike other artists who found fame through TikTok, Doja Cat was able to translate the viral craze into a proper career with multiple hits. This week, “Streets” becomes Cat her fifth Top 10-entry on this list.

Other new entries this week include “My Head & My Heart” by Ava Max, which interpolates ATC’s 2000-hit “Around The World”. The single follows last year’s hit-single “Kings & Queens” and debuts at Number 27. The new song is Ava Max her eighth Top 40-entry. “Calling My Phone” by Lil Tjay & 6LACK also enters the list. Only the latter of the two charted on this list before, scoring a minor Top 20-hit with Normani on “Waves” in late 2018. Lil Tjay & 6LACK open at Number 33. Closing off the Top 40 is the newest Rita Ora-song “Big”. The Brit is no stranger to success, as she scored nine Top 10s and topped the charts with “I Will Never Let You Down”. On “Big”, Rita Ora is aided by Imanbek, David Guetta & Gunna.

Inspired by an article by The Official UK Chart and Valentine’s Day, I have decided to take a closer look at all the songs about love that charted on my list. In total, 276 songs that feature the word “love” in its title entered the Top 40 on my list. Only 23 of those songs reached Number 1. The first ever love song that reached Number 1 was “Be My Lover” by La Bouche back in June 1995. The song spent one week atop the chart. The most recent song about love to reach Number 1 was “Secret Love Song” by Little Mix & Jason Derulo, which celebrated its five year anniversary last week. The highest-scoring single to feature the word “love” is “Fight For This Love” by Cheryl. The song was an enormous success, as it spent twelve record-breaking weeks at Number 1 and became the first out of six Number 1s for Cheryl. The single actually was the song with the most weeks at Number 1 up and till 2017, when Dua Lipa overtook the record with “New Rules” by one week. For the Top 10 highest-scoring songs about love on my chart, see the list below the chart.

Hey Link! :)
I really like seeing 'Drivers License' hold on for a fifth consecutive week at #1.
I'm also happy that 'We're Good', 'My Head & My Heart' & 'Big' all debuted this week!
Nice chart as usual.
Have a good weekend!

Hey Piran! Thank you so much for the comment. “drivers license” is still going strong, but SZA and Dua Lipa are growing in numbers. I’m happy to see you also like the new debuts, all great songs. Have a great weekend :)

Hey Piran! Thank you so much for the comment. “drivers license” is still going strong, but SZA and Dua Lipa are growing in numbers. I’m happy to see you also like the new debuts, all great songs. Have a great weekend :)

I'm impressed more the battle between Sza and Olivia hope it won't be blocked Good days. Like
We're Good as your highest debut.....Like the other entries Ava Max and Lil Tjay and 6Lack. Interesting Waves charted are you eagerly waiting for Normani next Single ..Incredible that Levitating is x3 platinum

Hey Brandy! Thank you so much for the comment. “Good Days” is still very much in the running for Number 1, but Olivia Rodrigo remains strong. I’m happy you also like the new debuts. “Waves” by Normani & 6LACK was a Top 20-hit on my list some time back, but Normani has had some bigger hits that hit the Top 5. She should be a much bigger star by now but her label is totally screwing her over and limiting her creative freedom. I hope she releases something soon! Have a great weekend :)

Hey Link! It's great to see 'drivers license' hold on to the top spot for the fifth week running. I'm also loving the Top 5 debut for 'We're Good' and the climbs for 'Wellerman' into the Top 5, '34+35' and the huge boost for 'Friday.' Great chart and have a great week ahead! :D

Hey Rector, thank you so much for the comment. “drivers license” is still going strong, although Dua Lipa could overtake her next week. I’m happy you like the new peak by “Wellerman”, the song is really growing on me. It might take the Top 3 next week. Have a great week :)

Hello Link1001000 :) Good too see Olivia spend a fifth week at the top spot (happy belated birthday to her). Love seeing the debut for big at 40, it is set to chart high in my chart next week. i also adore the big rises for Friday and wellerman! Also, were good at #5 is good as I think it is a decent song and definitely the best of the new dua songs. have a good week.

Hey George, thank you so much for the comment. “drivers license” is still going strong, although SZA and Dua Lipa are edging in on the crown. Happy to see you really like Rita Ora’s new song as well. I think it’s catchy and fun, but I expect it won’t do well on the chart surrounding the latest controversies. Very sad, because Rita is very talented! Have a great week :)

Hey Link! What a great chart again! It starts to get very exciting at the top. Very happy to see Olivia earns another week at number 1. I am very curious what the role of Dua Lipa will be next week. Can she compete with Olivia and SZA? Have a nice week!

Hey Davyl, thank you so much for the comment. It is going to be a very close race to Number 1 next week with Olivia Rodrigo, SZA and Dua Lipa contending. As of this day, SZA takes the lead, but who knows. If Dua Lipa were to reach Number 1, it will be her ninth chart-topper, so that would be exciting as well. Have a great weekend :)
