Olivia Rodrigo speeds to the Number 1-position with her debut single “drivers license”, becoming one of the youngest acts of all time to top the chart

Olivia Rodrigo, star of Disney+’s High School Musical, speeds in at Number 1 with her acclaimed debut single “drivers license”. An impressive feat, since the American actress and singer has not even entered the Top 40 before. Within the first two weeks of its release, "drivers license" broke Spotify's record twice for most daily streams ever for a non-holiday song, culminating in over 160 million streams. The single has also topped the Billboard Hot 100 and the Official UK Charts. Olivia Rodrigo now earns her first Number 1-record on this chart, although she is just 17 years old, making her one of the youngest acts of all time to top the charts. The youngest chart-topper to date is Billie Piper, whom at age fifteen reached Number 1 with “Because We Want To”.

Singer-songwriter SZA enters the Top 10 this week with her newest release “Good Days”. The acclaimed artist first rose to fame with her debut studio album “CTRL”, which was met with universal praise from critics and became a big commercial success on the Billboard Hot 200. Following the release of “CTRL”, SZA also started appearing on this chart with slow-burning hits such as “Drew Barrymore” and, eventually, the Top 10-hit “Love Galore”. Her biggest success to date remains “All the Stars” featuring Kendrick Lamar, which peaked at Number 2 in 2018. “Good Days” marks SZA her fourth Top 10-entry on this list and is already her second highest-peaking song to date, finishing at Number 8 this week.

Within the Top 40, newcomer HVME is nearing the Top 10 with her debut “Goosebumps” featuring uncredited vocals from Travis Scott. The single has enjoyed a steady climb the last few weeks, peaking at Number 13 this week. Canadian pop-darling Justin Bieber is also eying for the Top 10 with her newest release “Anyone”, which is enjoying commercial success worldwide. On this list, the single has had a slower start, but peaks at Number 20 this week. Other notable risers include “DAKITI” by Bad Bunny, “Get Out My Head” by Shane Codd” and BFF-anthem “Best Friend” by Saweetie & Doja Cat.

The highest new entry of the week belongs to two Dutch legends: Acda en de Munnik. The Dutch cabaret-musical from Amsterdam have left quite a legacy in the Netherlands, having scored a string of hits throughout the late 90s and the early 00s. The duo is trademarked by their poetic lyrics and harmonious vocals. On this list, Acda en de Munnik scored their first hit with “Niet Of Nooit Geweest” (#2), which was quickly followed by the platinum-hit “Het Regent Zonnestralen” (#2). In 2001, the duo even hit Number 1 with “Zij Maakt Het Verschil” alongside the group Van Dik Hout. Acda en de Munnik finally reunite after an extended hiatus, now returning with “Als Ik Je Weer Zie” as the highest debut of the week. The two are not alone, as Dutch hit-singer Maan and acclaimed artist Typhoon join in. The collaboration marks Maan her seventeenth entry on this chart. This week, “Als Ik Je Weer Zie” begins its run at Number 21.

Other new entries in the Top 40 include “All We Got” by Robin Schulz featuring KIDDO, whom has very similar vocals to Tones And I. The new single marks Schulz his sixth Top 40-entry on this list and KIDDO her very first. At Number 35 we meet newcomer Froukje, a young Dutch talent who made a lasting impression at Noorderslag 2021. She first claimed success with the viral hit “Groter Dan Ik”, an anthemic song about growing climate change problems. She now makes her Top 40-debut with “Onbezonnen”, taken from her debut EP. Closing of the Top 40 is “Don’t Play” by YouTuber-rapper KSI, Top 10-artist Anne-Marie and producer Digital Farm Animals.

Hey Link! How are you? So happy to see Olivia Rodrigo reaching #1. It might be early but I think this song might just be the song of the year. What do you think? Also, great entries for Dutchies Acda, De Munnik, Maan, Typhoon and Froukje and a top 10-entry for SZA. Great chart as always!

Hey Davyl, I’m good, thank you! I personally believe “drivers license” is one of the most interesting releases of the past few years, especially on all the official charts. The song is basically Number 1 all over the world and that does not happen very often. I’m not sure if it’s the song of the year already, it’s still very early to say. But it is definitely up there! As for Acda en de Munnik, I really like the new song, although they can be a bit too poetic for my like. I also really like Froukje’s last EP. Thanks for the comment, have a great weekend :)

Hey Link! :)
I absolutely love seeing 'Drivers License' surge to #1 this week, as well as 'Good Days' climbing into the Top 10.
Good chart as usual!

Hey Piran, thank you so much for the comment. “drivers license” is doing amazing right now, could even be Number 1 again next week. “Good Days” is such a great song, I hope it’ll reach the Top 10 on the UK Charts as well. Have a great week :)

love that climb to #1 for drivers licence!! the debut for dont play is awesome too. i love that good days has gone top 10 too, and paradise and wap still in the top 40 is brilliant news.

Hey George, thank you so much for the comment! Olivia Rodrigo is set for a third week at Number 1. It’s basically all I’m listening to. “Good Days” is set to climb again and “Don’t Play” might jump up as well! Excited to see how Olivia is doing on your chart :)

Hey Link! I love to see 'drivers license' at #1 along with the climbs for 'WITHOUT YOU', 'Good Days', 'Goosebumps', 'Anyone' and 'Get Out My Head'. It also looks like all of them reached new peaks too, exciting! I also like seeing the debut of 'Don't Play' at #40, hoping that climbs next week! Great chart again! :)

Hey Rector, it looks like Olivia Rodrigo will be at Number 1 again tomorrow! The Kid LAROI and SZA are going to climb again, reaching even higher peaks. “Get Out My Head” and “Goosebumps” are doing fine as well. “Don’t Play” will probably rise as well, but Top 20 might be a stretch. I’m curious to see if it’s going to be a hit on the international charts. Thank you so much for the comment, have a great weekend :)
