PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson finally make it to #1

After four weeks in second place, PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson finally make it to the top with their cross-over “Stateside”. Last year, PinkPantheress delivered one of the freshest projects of this decade: Fancy That. It spawned the Top 10-songs “Tonight” and “Illegal”. With her recognizable voice, smart productions and Y2K-sensibilities, PinkPantheress established herself as one of the leading producers of the mid-2020s. To reward her fans, Pink released a remix collection of Fancy That, smartly titled Fancy Some More?, which reworked all the original songs to feature other artists, including Sweden’s pop princess Zara Larsson on “Stateside”. Zara Larsson’s been on the up again, lately, ever since her 2015-hit “Lush Life” went viral during a show in Amsterdam and caused a major uplift in streams. It has resulted in her biggest headlining tour to date and a Number 1-hit on here with “Midnight Sun”. In a close race to the top, “Stateside” now finally clinches the top position for the very first time. The hit is boosted by Alysa Liu’s gold-winning performance at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. “Stateside” marks PinkPantheress her second Number 1-hit, only preceded by 2022’s breakout “The Boy’s a Liar” featuring Ice Spice. For Zara Larsson, “Stateside” marks her fifth Number 1-hit. She further extends her record as the Swedish artist with the most Number 1s of all time.

Harry Styles discos occasionally, but is on the chart, all the time! His fourth solo studio album with the very conceited name was released last week and has impacted the streaming charts worldwide. All its tracks occupied the British Spotify Top 50 and all of them appeared on the global playlist as well. The critics, however, have reacted dividedly to the album. Many complimented the production, but much criticism was directed towards the fumbled usage of Harry Styles’s impressive voice. Fans were split as well, with some calling it his best work to date and others easily his worst. Lead single “Aperture” debuted at Number 1 on my personal chart and earned Harry Styles his sixth chart-topping song. Since its debut atop the list, the song has kept inside the Top 10, though it does not equal the success of other lead singles “As It Was”. With his ex-boyband status and all, this era rings back to Robbie Williams’s divisive Rudebox. That album also saw Robbie Williams leave his traditional sound for a more techno and electronic sound to varying reviews and muddled chart success. Is this Harry Styles’s Rudebox? Well, much like Rudebox’s second single “She’s Madonna”, Harry Styles’s second single “American Girls” debuts at #14.

In 2019, American singer and rapper Dominic Fike broke out with “3 Nights” – a knock-out Number 1 that finished as one of the biggest-scoring songs of that year. Since then, Dominic Fike released a few albums and EPs, starred on HBO’s Euphoria and, most recently, worked with Backpink’s Jennie solo track “Love Hangover”. He now returns with “Babydoll”, originally taken from the same EP as the big breakout “3 Nights”, at #26. It continues the trend of old songs that resurfaced on streaming and went on to become big hits, like Zara Larsson’s “Lush Life”. Further down, Bebe Rexha bids for a ticket out of the Khia Asylum with “New Religion” at #32. It’s another classic Bebe Rexha-song, meaning that it samples another iconic dance song, this time Faithless’s “Insomnia”. Not really echoing Khia-escapee Zara Larsson, more so channelling Ava Max. It does find its way in the Top 40. It marks Bebe Rexha her first solo entry since 2021’s “Sacrifice”. Sam Fender and Olivia Dean round out the (re-)entries of this week with their Number 1-smash “Rein Me In”. The song re-enters following their success at the BRITs and the song’s European breakthrough.
