PinkPantheress & Ice Spice return to Number 1 for a third week

Boosted by an increase in streaming figures, PinkPantheress & Ice Spice return to Number 1 with their smash hit “Boy’s a Liar”. Since its release, the single became a viral success and took over the worldwide charts. Its distinct 2000s-sound – credits to producer Mura Masa – have made it one of the catchiest hit songs of the year. PinkPantheress and Ice Spice return to the crown position for a third non-consecutive week. They dethrone Bizarrap and Shakira, who spent two consecutive weeks at Number 1 with their eponymous collaboration. It marked Shakira her tenth Number 1-hit on my personal list and marked the first fully Spanish chart-topper in over seven years.

Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding have another smash hit on their hands as their newest collaboration “Miracle” moves up a whopping ten places to a new peak at #3. The single is a straight up trance song with an enticing Eurodance beat. The single is very reminiscent of Robert Miles his 1996-hit “Children” and other dance songs of the late 1990s. “Miracle” marks Harris and Goulding their third collaboration to date – they previously came together on 2013’s “I Need Your Love” and the 2014 Number 1-smash “Outside”. Since then, both artists have enjoyed major chart success. As “Miracle” reaches a brand-new peak at #3 this week, Calvin Harris earns his nineteenth Top 10-entry while Ellie Goulding collects her fourteenth.

Further down, Irish newcomer Cian Ducrot enters the Top 10 with his ballad “I’ll Be Waiting”. He first rose to prominence last year when his single “All For You” went viral on TikTok. He has since built a devoted fanbase and is now steadily climbing the official charts across Europe. Last week, Ducrot was announced as the support act for Ed Sheeran his upcoming tour. His breakout “I’ll Be Waiting” is truly unique song, detailing his complicated relationship with his father, even further illustrated by its music video. As it peaks at #10 this week, it marks Ducrot his first Top 10-apperance on my personal list.

Speaking of Irish talent, Bray-born singer Hozier earns the highest debut of the week with his comeback single “Eat Your Young”. Over the past few years, he has become one of the most popular alternative singers in the industry. In 2014, he scored an international smash hit with “Take Me To Church” which has been streamed over 2 billion times on Spotify. Success continued with acclaimed albums self-titled debut album and the follow-up Wasteland, Baby! He now returns with “Eat Your Young”, debuting at #23. It precedes his upcoming third album of the same name. Overall, “Eat Your Young” marks Hozier his fourth Top 40-appearance on my personal list.

A few places down, British newcomer Mae Stephens debuts with “If We Ever Broke Up” at #29. The single is currently a massive success on TikTok. Several critics describe the quirky, up-beat song to Lily Allen’s earlier work. Lewis Capaldi returns with the heart wrenching ballad “How I’m Feeling Now”. It is also the name of his own Netflix documentary, set to be released in April. German producer Felix Jaehn and American singer Ray Dalton debut at #39 with “Call It Love”. The song is already a big radio hit in The Netherlands. It marks both artists their chart debut on my personal list.
