Roxy Ro & Ronnie return to Number 1 for a fourth consecutive week

In a close race to the top, Roxy Dekker and Ronnie Flex beat Little Mix’s Jade to the top spot with the hit duet “Gaan We Weg”. The cross-over house track debuted at #3 initially, before a three-week stint atop my chart. It now collects a fourth non-consecutive week leading my personal chart. Roxy Dekker has had an incredible year so far. Since her breakout Top 10-hit “Satisfyer” last year, she has been scoring back-to-back hits, including a Number 1-debut with “Sugardaddy”. It all culminated at Lowlands this weekend, where she performed a surprise set of her hit singles at the Coca Cola Stage. She was joined by Ronnie Flex to perform their current Number 1-duet. Jade is not backing down easily though as her solo debut “Angel of My Dreams” slips to third place. As she reached the top of this chart last week, Little Mix became the first girl group from which every member has scored a solo Number 1. “Angel of My Dreams” also continues to score as the Little Mix solo single with the most weeks in the Top 3.

We have had big summer smashes already: Billie’s “Birds of a Feather” or either of Sabrina Carpenter her Number 1s. But summer is not over yet, as Colombian pop diva KAROL G moves into the Top 10 with her Spanish cross-over hit “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido”, finishing at #10 this week. We have previously seen KAROL G in the Top 10 with “Tusa” in 2020 with Nicki Minaj and last year with the gold-certified “TQG” alongside Shakira. The latter became her best-peaking and most-successful hit to date. KAROL G her legacy is already unmatched: considered one of the most influential reggaeton of all time, she has received numerous big awards including a Grammy. On my personal list, the modern icon now earns her third Top 10-entry to date. “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido” is the first Spanish hit to reach the Top 10 this summer.

Two major pop players come together on “Die With a Smile”: Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars. Both stars rose to fame in the late 2000s, scoring some of the biggest multi-platinum hits of the 2010s. Together, they have scored eight Number 1s and twenty-eight Top 10-hits. Though both iconic singers, it’s been some time since we have seen them on the charts. Gaga’s last appearance was the letdown 2022-ballad “Hold My Hand” – barely scratched #40 – while Mars was last spotted in the Top 10 with Anderson .Paak as Silk Sonic in 2021. They now come back together on “Die With a Smile”, a refreshingly long pop song. It earns the highest debut of the week at #14. It already marks Lady Gaga her best debut in a long time. Her last real hit was 2020’s #2-smash “Rain On Me” with Ariana Grande.

Further down, Chappel Roan impacts the list again with singles from her iconic The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, namely “Casual” enters at #19. Her breakout “Good Luck, Babe” went #1, “Hot To Go” is currently Top 5 and “Red Wine Supernova” is edging the Top 10. It truly is one of the biggest breakouts of 2024, no doubt. DJ The Blessed Madonna debuts at #29 with “Edge of Saturday Night” featuring Aussie pop queen Kylie Minogue. Ever since her big comeback Number 1 “Padam, Padam”, Minogue has been steadily charting in the Top 40 again. She collects her fifty-seventh Top 40-song to date. Country-pop singer Benson Boone rounds out the new entries at #31 with “Pretty Slowly”. He’s scored an international hit this year with “Beautiful Things”.

As Roxy Dekker continues to dominate, it may be time to reevaluate the best-scoring songs by a Dutch female solo artist of all time. Her hit singles have moved up the ranking, already surpassing many big and iconic singles. The highest-scoring song released by a Dutch female solo artist of all time remains “Dat Heb Jij Gedaan” by Meau. A surprise success in 2021, it topped my chart for four weeks and was the Christmas Number 1 that year. Roxy Dekker ranks second – already! – with “Sugardaddy”, which debuted atop my list this year and spent ten consecutive weeks inside the Top 3. If it manages to stick on my chart for a few more weeks, it could overtake Meau’s total. Noughties star Esmée Denters ranks third with her international hit “Outta Here”, which held the record for thirteen years. Maan is the most successful Dutch female solo artist of all time with five Number 1s, her biggest solo hit being “Zo Kan Het Dus Ook”, which ranks fourth overall. Noughties icon EliZe ranks fifth with “Automatic”, which is actually the very first Dutch female solo hit to reach Number 1 in 2005. Other notable songs include many hits from Ilse DeLange and Anouk, with thirteen and twelve entries in the Top 100, respectively. Roxy Dekker her breakout “Satisfyer” is the tenth biggest song.
