Shakira aims for Number 1, but is blocked by the viral PinkPantheress & Ice Spice

Supported by increasing streaming figures, PinkPantheress & Ice Spice maintain their pole position with “Boy’s a Liar”. The duet is currently enjoying success on TikTok and is steadily climbing official charts across the globe. “Boy’s a Liar” its distinct 2000s-sound is produced by Mura Masa, a Grammy-winning producer who recently plays at festivals in the Netherlands. PinkPantheress & Ice Spice are opposed by strong competition though, as Shakira & Bizzarrap their eponymous cross-over jumps up eleven places to #2 this week. The single is very clear and upfront response song directed towards Shakira’s ex Gerard Piqué. It became an immediate success upon release, earning 14.39 million streams on Spotify in its first day. On my personal chart, the pop hit becomes Shakira her most successful single in recent years. She last charted inside the Top 3 with 2018’s “Clandestino”. If Shakira and Bizzarrap were to take Number 1 next week, it would mark the Latin queen of pop her tenth chart-topper.

A few places down, Mimi Webb moves up eight places into the Top 10 with “Roles Reversed”, peaking at #7 this week. The single promotes Webb her upcoming debut album Amelia, which has previously spawned the Number 1-hit “House On Fire”, and most recently, the Top 10-hit “Red Flags”. Her newest single “Roles Reversed” is a softer break-up ballad, very reminiscent of her international breakthrough hit “Good Without”. The song is boosted by major streaming numbers and playlisting. “Roles Reversed” marks Mimi Webb her sixth Top 10-hit on my personal list.

Meanwhile, Dutch independent artist Froukje scores the top debut of the week with “Als Ik God Was”, entering the list at #12. The young talent is one of the Netherlands’ most acclaimed acts. Her sets at Best Kept Secret and Lowlands were widely praised, while her first two EPs became chart successes. On my personal list, Froukje has so far earned three Top 10-entries, of which two are collaborations with S10, the most recent being the Top 3-hit “Nooit Meer Spijt”. This week, indie’s darling Froukje returns solo with “Als Ik God Was”, an energetic song in which she fantasizes about being God. It marks her eighth Top 40-entry on my personal chart.

Inside the Top 20, Irish singer Cian Ducrot reaches a new peak at #15 with “I’ll Be Waiting”, a heartfelt ballad which went viral across the internet. Sam Smith continues to climb up with their “I’m Not Here to Make Friends”, while Niall Horan his comeback solo single “Heaven” breaks the Top 20 for the first time this week. Colombian pop icons Karol G & Shakira come together on “TQG”, which debuts at #17. The collaboration is an alleged response song to the singers’ their exes. It was another streaming success, topping the Spotify charts in most Latin countries. It marks Shakira her thirty-second Top 40-hit, while Karol G earns her fourth.

A few places down, The Weeknd debuts at #22 with his remix of “Die For You”, now featuring Ariana Grande. The song was originally recorded for the Weeknd his third album Starboy, but it recently went viral and became a surprise sleeper hit. He has now remixed the single with Ariana Grande, with whom he previously collaborated on “Love Me Harder” and “Save Your Tears”. It marks Grande her first chart entry since 2021. Other new entries this week include Dutch singer Maan, who enters at #35 with a live recording of “Beloof Je Dat” from her sold-out show at the Ziggo Dome, and Snelle with “Terugweg”, which finishes at #38 this week.
