Up-and-coming rappers PinkPantheress & Ice Spice take Number 1 with the Mura Masa-produced “Boy’s a Liar”

Boosted by massive streaming figures, PinkPantheress & Ice Spice move up twenty-four places straight to Number 1 with their viral hit “Boy’s a Liar”. The single is currently enjoying success on TikTok and is steadily climbing official charts across the world. PinkPantheress has only started releasing music a year ago, but she has already assembled a devoted fanbase. The London-based rapper has also been named the BBC's Sound of...winner of 2022, which its previous winners include Adele, Ellie Goulding, HAIM and Sigrid. PinkPantheress is supported by Ice Spice. The Bronx-based rapper has become a viral sensation overnight, while she also made her chart debut recently on the Billboard Hot 100 with “In Ha Mood”. PinkPantheress and Ice Spice effortlessly come together on “Boy’s a Liar”, produced by Mura Masa, a Grammy-winning producer with a very distinct style. Pop’s new favourite duo dethrone Miley Cyrus’s “Flowers”, which spent five weeks at Number 1, marking her longest-running chart-topper to date.

Metro Boomin’ moves into the Top 10 with his Top 40-debut “Creepin’”, which features chart mainstays The Weeknd & 21 Savage. Metro Boomin’ is a behind-the-scenes mastermind, producing and writing some of R&B’s biggest hits in the last few years. He has worked with Young Thug, Future, Nicki Minaj, Post Malone, Drake and others. “Creepin’” features The Weeknd on the vocals and a verse by 21 Savage. The song interpolates "Ready or Not" by the Fugees, which was a big hit on my personal list in 1996. Overall, “Creepin’” marks Metro Boomin’ his first Top 10-hit, while The Weeknd earns his fourteenth and 21 Savage his second. The single peaks at #9 this week.

British pop favourite Mimi Webb continues her string of hits as her latest single “Roles Reversed” earns the top debut of the week, entering the chart at #15. The single precedes her upcoming eponymous debut album, set to be released next month. The album includes some of her previous Top 10-successes, such as “Ghost of You”, and the Number 1-hit “House on Fire”. Mimi Webb also enjoyed success at the Brits last week, where she was nominated for Best New Artist. As “Roles Reversed” claims the highest new entry of this week, Mimi Webb collects her seventh Top 40-entry overall.

Inside the Top 20, Dutch-Molokan young talent Zoë Tauran moves up to #12 with “Therapie”. The new single is set to become her best-performing solo release to date. British girl group FLO rebounds to #14 with the insanely catchy “Cardboard Box”, possibly hinting at a Top 10-peak. Sam Smith reaches a new peak at #19 with their queer anthem “I’m Not Here to Make Friends” featuring Jessie Reyez and Calvin Harris. Nashville-based newcomer Stephen Sanchez scores his first Top 20-hit with “Until I Found You” featuring Em Beihold, supported by viral success and streaming figures.

Further down, Irish newcomer Cian Ducrot debuts at #23 with his ballad “I’ll Be Waiting”. The single has become his breakout hit across Europe, boosted by viral success on TikTok. Ex-One Direction singer Niall Horan makes his comeback at #32 with “Heaven”. It is his first solo song in nearly three years and it precedes his upcoming third solo album The Show. Lana Del Rey rounds out the new debuts as “A&W (American Whore)” makes its first appearance at #39, marking her fifteenth Top 40-entry.
