Tate McRae enters fourth consecutive week with “Greedy” + big week for country music

Supported by a viral TikTok trend and a new sped-up version, Tate McRae enters a fourth consecutive week with “Greedy”. It now ranks as one of the longest-running Number 1-singles by a Canadian artist. The record is currently held by Céline Dion her “My Heart Will Go On”, which spent a whopping nine weeks atop the list. Tate McRae manages to outsell Pommelien Thijs once again. The Belgian star settles for second place with “Erop of Eronder”. Joining the race for Number 1 is South-African star Tyla with “Water” which peaks at #3 this week. It is the fourth Afrobeats single to peak inside my personal Top 3 this year – the previous being Libianca’s “People”, Ayra Starr’s “Rush” and Leigh-Anne & Ayra’s “My Love”.

Not only Afrobeats is on the rise; the country genre also enjoys newfound success. Zach Bryan moves into the Top 10 with “I Remember Everything” featuring Kacey Musgraves. Zach Bryan has been a big name in the country genre for a few years now. His album American Heartbreak was a big success and earned the biggest first week for a country album in 2022 on the Billboard Hot 200. This year’s success has been even bigger – his self-titled fourth album debuted at number one on the same chart, while the duet “I Remember Everything” topped the Billboard Hot 100. On my personal list, the duet peaks at #7, a new career high for both artists. Country-pop icon Kacey Musgraves previously enjoyed success with her Grammy-winning Golden Hour.

Further down, country music star Luke Combs peaks at #9 with his soulful cover of “Fast Car” by Tracy Chapman. Combs is one of America’s biggest stars, having earned multiple Grammy nominations and four Academy of Country Music Awards. His singles never made it onto my personal chart, until now. “Fast Car” by Tracy Chapman remains one of the most iconic and best-written songs of all time. Luckily, Combs knows this and does not change one thing about the original. Instead, he plays the song straight, helping him make his big breakthrough. It is the second cover of “Fast Car” to make it into my Top 10 – Jonas Blue & Dakota made it to #8 with their remix in 2016.

Further down, Aussie pop icon Troye Sivan earns the top debut of the week with “One of Your Girls” at #16. It’s the third single from his new album Something To Give Each Other. The album was preceded by the lead single “Rush”, which became Sivan his first ever Top 10-hit on my personal list. The follow-up “Got Me Started” also reaches a new peak at #19. The real star of the new project, however, is “One of Your Girls” and its music video which features Sivan in drag and a smoking hot Ross Lynch. It marks Sivan his twelfth Top 40-entry on my list.

Noughties icons the Sugababes make their comeback at #26 with “When the Rain Comes”. The song is the Sugababes their first single in over a decade and the first to be released since the original line-up of Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhán Donaghy. During their heyday, the Sugababes scored five Number 1s and four additional Top 10-hits, ranking as one of the biggest girl groups of all time. Their iconic “Push the Button” is currently certified triple-platinum. The soulful “When the Rain Comes” sees the Sugababes earning their twenty-third Top 40-entry on this list. For a full overview of their biggest hits, see the list below this chart.

Finally, two other songs make their debut. Rema & Ice Spice come together on “Pretty Girl” at #36. It is Rema his second Top 40-hit, following his massively popular and platinum-certified “Calm Down” with Selena Gomez. It is Ice Spice’s fourth already – following her Top 2-smash “Barbie World” with Nicki Minaj. Holly Humberstone enters at #39 with “Paint My Bedroom Black”, the latest single from her new debut album of the same name. We last saw her peaking at #18 with “Can You Afford To Lose Me?” earlier this year. Humberstone now earns her fifth Top 40-entry.
