Will Smith celebrates a third week at Number 1 with Men In Black. The song serves as the title theme of the highly successful film of the same name, which is smashing box office records worldwide. Aided by its publicity, Will Smith is not leaving the top spot any time soon. The single has amassed over 40,000 points this week, giving Men In Black a well-deserved Gold Certification.
Chumbawamba score their first Top 10-entry with Tubthumping. Chumbawamba is an alternative group formed in Great Britain, known for their controversial songs that tackle hot issues such as animal rights, LGBT-rights and pacifism. The group has scored small hits in the United Kingdom, but their newest single Tubthumping is becoming a true success around the world. The song already peaked at Number 2 in the United Kingdom and is charting overseas as well. On this list, Chumbawamba peaks at Number 9 this week.
Barbra Streisand and Céline Dion enter the Top 10 with Tell Him. The two pop-icons are one of the most successful and influential women in music, having scored massive hits across the globe. On this list, Céline Dion is the most successful of the two. The French-Canadian singer has scored four Number 1-hits and seven Top 10-hits, which includes her newest Tell Him. Her most successful entry to date is Think Twice, which spent five weeks at Number 1 and received a 2 x Platinum-certification with over 130,000 points. This week, Barbra Streisand and Céline Dion take their duet to Number 10.
Wes scores the highest debut of the week. Wes is a fairly unknown Cameroonian musician who is suddenly breaking through with his catchy hit Alane. His music career has started years earlier with the album "Sun of Ancestors". He toured the world to promote his music, which earned him a record deal. In 1996, Wes signed with Sony Music France to release his first proper album “Welenga” and, subsequently, its first single Alane. The song is becoming a massive hit in Europe, topping the charts in the Netherlands, Belgium and France. On this list, Wes makes his debut at Number 12.
