The Spice Girls celebrate Gold in fourth week at Number 1

The Spice Girls earn a fourth consecutive week at Number 1 with Spice Up Your Life. The song is the girls’ sixth chart-topper on this list, following successes such as 2 Become 1 and Who Do You Think You Are. The song has amassed over 40,000 points this week, giving the single a Gold Certification. This is the girls’ sixth single to earn at least a Golden Status. Their highest-certified hit is Wannabe, which collected a Diamond Status last week.

Aqua has a very successful week. Their debut single Barbie Girl reaches a new peak at Number 2 and is becoming the group’s breakthrough on this list. Internationally, the song is a massive hit as well. The song topped the charts worldwide, particularly in European countries such as the UK, where it was a Number 1-hit for three weeks. Their follow-up single is released this week; Doctor Jones, which is a subtle ode to the famous Indiana Jones played by Harrison Ford. The song is destined to be an enormous success, much like its predecessor, resulting in the highest debut of the week. Doctor Jones enters at Number 13 this week.

Sash! receives a Platinum Certification for his breakthrough hit Ecuador. Sash! is a German DJ-trio, known for their incredibly catchy dance anthems. Sash! joins acts such as Mr. President and La Bouche as one of the most successful artists to emerge from Germany. The song became Sash! their breakthrough hit on this list, peaking at Number 3. Internationally, the song became an international hit and reached the top 20 in more than ten countries worldwide, peaking at number one in Flemish Belgium, Romania and Scotland. As of this week, the song has amassed over 65,000 points.

Anouk receives a Gold Certification for Nobody’s Wife. The song was her second ever single to be properly released, following Mood Indigo. The single became a massive success in the Netherlands, peaking at Number 2 in the Dutch Top 40. On this list, Anouk had similar success;  the single peaked at Number 2 and was kept off the top by the Spice Girls. Following Nobody’s Wife its success, the additional album “Together Alone” became an enormous seller as well. As of this week, the song has amassed over 40,000 points.
