The group’s style is mainstream punk rock, which is becoming popular throughout the world. The Offspring already scored big hits in the United States and topped the Billboard Alternative Charts. The group now breaks international boundaries with Pretty Fly (For a White Guy). The song is already skyrocketing the charts in the Netherlands and other European countries. After a four week-climb, the Offspring finally enters the Top 10 on this list. The Offspring peaks at Number 7 this week.
Loona scores the highest debut of the week. Loona is a Dutch singer-songwriter who is rapidly climbing the Dutch charts. She covered Bailando, originally by Paradisio, which led to a big hit in Germany. More covers followed, including Spanish covers as well. Loona now covers Hijo de la Luna, which was originally sung by Mecano in 1986. That song was critically acclaimed and became a big commercial success throughout Europe. Loona her cover is becoming another big success for the Dutch singer. On this list, Hijo de la Luna scores the highest debut of the week and enters at Number 14 this week.
Will Smith receives a Gold Certification for his hit single Miami. The song became Will Smith his third Top 10-single and went on to peak at Number 2. The song was on the verge of peaking above the list, but was kept off the top by the Spice Girls. Nonetheless, Will Smith his single was another huge international success and topped the charts worldwide. The song is the last single of his big-seller album “Big Willie Style”. As of this week, Miami has amassed over 40,000 points.
B*Witched receive a Gold Certification for Rollercoaster. Following the huge success of their Number 1-hit C’est La Vie, it was a bit unsure whether B*Witched was a one-hit-wonder or not. Luckily, the Irish girl group proved that B*Witched is here to stay. The girls’ Rollercoaster was B*Witched their second Top 10-hit, peaking at Number 5. Internationally, the single was also a success. The song became the girls’ second consecutive chart-topper in the United Kingdom. As of this week, Rollercoaster scored over 40,000 points on this list.
Boyzone receive a 3 x Platinum Certification for No Matter What. The single became Boyzone their first ever Number 1-hit, spending five weeks above the list. The single rapidly climbed the charts, whilst also becoming an international success. The chart-topper marks Boyzone their best-scoring single to date, whilst also being one of the best-scoring singles of all time overall. Only one other single by a boy group holds more points, being Back For Good by Take That, but Boyzone is close to dethrone the record. As of this week, No Matter What has scored over 100,000 points.
