Bryan Adams and Melanie C hit Number 1, making “Sporty Spice” the first Spice Girl to score a solo chart-topper

Bryan Adams and Melanie C climb to Number 1 with When You’re Gone. The last duet to reach the peak of the summit was The Boy Is Mine by Brandy and Monica one year ago. Bryan Adams is the first male Canadian to top the charts. Two other female Canadian singers have preceded him, namely Céline Dion and Shania Twain. The British singer Melanie C is the first Spice Girl to score a chart-topper independently, although she states that she still is an official member of the girl group. Other members of the Spice Girls have announced to be releasing music soon. Bryan Adams and Melanie C their duet dethrone Goodbye by, coincidentally, the Spice Girls. The previous crown holder spent seven weeks above the list.

Lenny Kravitz enters the Top 10 with Fly Away. The single is released as the fourth single from his fifth studio album “5”. The American rock singer has previously scored big million-sellers in the United States, such as It Ain't Over 'til It's Over and the album “Are You Gonna Go My Way”. Lenny Kravitz his new single is becoming another big hit for the singer, whilst also breaking international boundaries. On this list, Fly Away peaks at Number7 this week.

Loona enters the Top 10 with Hijo de la Luna. Loona is a Dutch singer-songwriter who is rapidly climbing the Dutch charts. She covered Bailando, originally by Paradisio, which became a big hit in Germany. More covers followed, including Spanish covers as well. Loona now covers Hijo de la Luna, which was originally sung by Mecano in 1986. That song was critically acclaimed and became a big commercial success throughout Europe. Loona her cover version is becoming another big success for the Dutch singer. On this list, Hijo de la Luna peaks at Number 9 this week.

It has been a while since Denmark spawned successful singles on this list. In 1995, the Danish hit maker Whigfield dominated the list. She scored two Number 1-hits and her single Saturday Night holds as one of the best-scoring singles of all time. As Whigfield her success decreased, no Danish acts managed to enter the list. That changes this week, as Toy-Box score the highest debut of the week. Toy-Box is a Danish pop group who are currently having immense success with their debut album “Fantastic”. The subsequent single Tarzan & Jane is now becoming an international hit, climbing the charts worldwide. On this list, Tarzan & Jane debuts at Number 14 this week.

Volumia! receives a 3 x Platinum Certification. The successful hit single spent three consecutive weeks at Number 1 and became the first Dutch hit to peak above the list since Wereld Zonder Jou by Marco Borsato and Trijntje Oosterhuis in 1997. The single has become Volumia! their highest-peaking success to date. Internationally, the release was another success. The song hit the Top 10 in the Netherlands and Belgium. As of this week, Hou Me Vast has amassed over 100,000 points.
