Hey Gameskiller! :)
I honestly think 'SOS' will end up spending even more time at #1 beyond this, even with the Eurovision takeover coming next week! To answer your question, it does indeed look like it'll be the biggest Eurovision takeover my charts have seen, since we could be seeing around half the chart full of Eurovision songs & almost all of the throwbacks.
Of all of those songs you mentioned, I definitely think 'Sixteen' & 'Hold Me While You Wait' are the mostly likely ones to reach new peaks after this week!
Regarding your other question, including before Crown Note, 'I Don't Care' is Ed's 25th Top 10 & JB's 22nd, so they're clearly both very successful artists for me, especially having seen them both before.
I'll comment on your new chart soon!
Hello Piran!
Nice to see "I Don't Care" and "Tough Love" debuting in the top 10, both are really great songs!
Also nice big gains for "Hold Me While You Wait" and "Soldi"! The latter of which is my favourite, considering it's a perfect entry for Eurovision!
Speaking of, I like the debuts this week. Especially for Sergey Lazarev & KEiiNO!
Seeing your next week's predictions, Eurovision will pretty much dominate your charts. Maybe my chart next week will be hopefully dominated with this year's Eurovision songs just like yours!
One question, did you make your own chart before you've started Crownnote or after? If it's the former, did Eurovision songs dominated your charts each year! Would be interesting to know!
Great chart as always!
Hey Sergej! :)
I'm glad you really like both songs that debuted in the Top 10 this week!
I actually very nearly voted for 'Soldi', but 'Arcade' just overtook in the final performance, so I'm very glad it won! Expect a really close battle between those two songs for #1 next week.
Yeah, we could be seeing around half of the chart & almost all of the throwbacks dominated by Eurovision! It's an annual occurrence for Eurovision songs to impact my charts, including my personal charts in the years before I had Crown Note, but never as much as this year's will!
I'll check out your new chart shortly.
Hey Naos! :)
Yeah... you're not really going to have to say about next week unfortunately! That's understandable though, since I know hardly any Americans who pay the slightest bit of attention to Eurovision.
As for this week though, I'm glad you liked the new peaks for: 'Earth', 'Breathe' & 'Dancing In The Dark'!
I'll check out your new chart in a moment.
Hey mate, since you've made a new chart I decided to bring that conversation to here! I've been really solid - unfortunately, I'm starting to feel the full effect of Post Eurovision Depression (PED) - but I'm grateful that my favorite week of the year gave me new unforgettable memories. As you've said, this is now fourth week for 'SOS' at the top spot. Since you've hinted me that it's currently the strongest contender for Song of the Year, I have decided to check the situation. Unlike you, I feel like the timing for this song has been really unwell. ESC aside, there are so many good and new releases lately and if I was making charts, I feel like there could be so many #1 songs! So far, 'SOS' is seventh on your Year-End chart, although I see it overtaking 'Storm' and 'Shallow', the Top 3 might have a servicable lead! 'I Don't Care' is, for me, such an unexpected collaboration but well received! It's amazing that Taylor Swift has as many as 15!!! top-claiming songs on your chart. That's really incredible, I wonder who is second? As for 'ME!', I'm glad that we both acknowledge Brandon's contributions to the song the same way. I'm not surprised that 'Tough Love' made a debut on the chart, although I prefer 'SOS' - I don't like the indie beat and vibe that's dominating this song. I'm delighted that 'Storm' made a new jump and returned to Top 15. Looking at the next week's predictions, it should be in a very good position once again, additionally boosting it's Year-End case. You already confirmed that it's your favorite entry this year, with 'Arcade' increasingly growing on you, but what about other entries? Personally, my favorite is (bias and no-bias) John Lundvik and his song 'Too Late For Love'. I have a massive respect for Sweden - I vote for them every year regardless of how good their song is - they gave me two of my four favorite entries EVER in 'Heroes' (I'm a huge fan of Mans Zelmerlow too!) and 'Euphoria'. I really loved John's entry, I think that the energy in the song is amazing. I'm glad that the jury recognized it's quality and rewarded it with most points! My second favorite entry is 'Truth' by Chingiz and it's easily my favorite Azerbaijan's entry to date. Such a refreshing pop song with national elements. I don't have an issue with 'Arcade' winning, it's a worthy winner and an amazing song with a good performance (which I think could've been better, but it has it's good moments!) and also one of my favorites this year. You've asked me if I prefer 'Con Calma' remix or original - it's the original, I have to admit, however, I'm also enjoying the remix (as opposed to 'Despacito') two years ago. I'm very happy that 'Fuego' made another appearance and I hope to see more entries of the past! Of course, I'm happy to see other 2019 entries. Overall - another amazing chart, as expected. I'm looking forward to your reply, have a great week buddy! :)
Hey RandomGuy! How have you been over the past week? :)
Yeah, everything just feels like of empty this week for me this week too with no more Eurovision hype for almost another year, but yeah, our 2019 contestants definitely put on another awesome & unforgettable show!
Those are some interesting predictions for what'll be my favourite song of 2019! I'm not sure if 'Dancing With A Stranger' will pass 'Sweet But Psycho' at this point despite its longevity, but I'm still convinced 'SOS' could challenge both of these during the summer.
I think The Vamps are the act with the second most #1s for me, currently on eight. As you can see, Taylor's record is really safe for now!
As I said before, there were a lot of truly awesome Eurovision entries this year, but my Top 5 (in no particular order) would be: Estonia, Italy, The Netherlands, Sweden & Norway! Honestly, any one of the first three could be #1 for me next week! Estonia's is still my favourite in terms of quality, but it peaked in chart performance long ago, while The Netherlands winning will certainly boost its chart performance as I think it's the best Eurovision since 'Heroes' in 2015.
Italy's entry was already incredible, but it'll really soar next week thanks to an English remix with Isac Elliot, so that could also be in with a chance of going all the way!
At the rate it's going, I could see Sweden easily tying or maybe even surpassing Ireland for most Eurovision wins within the next five years. They've been putting out both consistently strong entries since the beginning, both in terms of quality & reception by the European public.
Norway's entry might actually have the most commercial success here in the UK, despite it being an international entry & not even a winning nor runner-up song (but it still made the Top 5 on iTunes!).
That said, I do feel I have to mention some disappointment aspects of this year's content, including: UK's last place, Iceland's Palestinian flag controversy, as well as the incredibly underwhelming entries from: Serbia, Slovenia, Iceland, Australia & especially Albania!
Regarding Mans Zelmerlow, I might actually like his version of 'Fuego' more than the original by Eleni Foureira! It could even be a contender for a Top 10 placing in my next chart.
Anyway, join me on Friday to see all the antics that'll inevitably happen here next!
I hope you have a good week too.
Hey Piran! I love seeing 'SOS' spend a 4th week at #1, and I also absolutely love 'I Don't Care' debuting at #2 right behind it! How many Top 10s have Ed & Justin had on your charts now? I also really like 'Sixteen' making a big climb to #5, 'Piece of Your Heart' rebounding to #6, and Avicii getting a 2nd simultaneous Top 10 with 'Tough Love' debuting at #9. That massive climb for 'Hold Me While You Wait' is great to see as well. As for next week's predictions, it's absolutely insane how much of an impact Eurovision is set to have on your charts! Am I just remembering wrong, or is this the biggest impact Eurovision will have ever had on your charts? Great chart again! :D
