The Red 50

Hey, some chart notes! Let's see if I can keep this going beyond this week...

- The Dear Hunter holds on to #1 with their second Red 40/50/whatever #1 (the first being "Waves"), but "Gloria" better not be ready for a long run at the top...hell, The Kills better not be ready to stick around in the top two...
- "Hardwired" sticks around at #3, but another song of theirs looms, as "Moth Into Flame" enters the top 15 this week. Metallica could be on the verge of doing something rare: Two top five songs at the same time. And it's entirely possible that "Moth Into Flame" is taking momentum away from "Hardwired". Stay tuned.
- The next #1 battle is already building below the top three, as Highly Suspect and Ghost continue their inevitable rise to the top two. Only Metallica can hope to dethrone either one of them in the near future...
- The biggest riser of the week surprised even me when I first looked over the top 50, as Disturbed jumps up ten spots with "Open Your Eyes". Could be one to watch out for.
- Three debuts, though only one that has #1 aspirations, and it's a Red chart darling making their return with their latest (and what looks to be their last) charting single, as The Dillinger Escape Plan are back with "Limerent Death" at #34.
- Two other debuts in the bottom fifth of the chart, as Barns Courtney charts with his follow-up to "Fire", "Glitter & Gold", while CRX, fronted by The Strokes' Nick Valensi, make their debut on the Red 50 with "Ways To Fake It".
- Three songs drop off this week, including two big performers that were seemingly intertwined with one another. We hardly knew ye, "King of the World" and "I Can't Give Everything Away".
