In 2019, two great records have been broken. First, Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road - Remix (Ft. Billy Ray Cyrus)" achieved 20 weeks at No. 1 (shifting the record of 67 years of Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" of 15 weeks). Second, this week Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" achieves the amazing leap from No. 40 to No. 1 breaking the Prince & The Revolution's record "Purple Rain" (35-1, April 2016). Mariah's Christmas song was released in 1994 reaching No. 8 in the same year and since then she has visited the Top 100 Singles in different years without having reached the Top 40 in most of the times. "All I Want" is the thirteenth No. 1 in Mariah's career, her last No. 1 was "Touch My Body" in 2008. It is also her 23rd week in total atop.
With the eighties spoof of former Number One Joan Jett & The Blackhearts' "I Love Rock'n'Roll", LadBaby's "I Love Sausage Rolls" debuts at No. 2 aided by great digital streaming. The last time a song entered the Top 40 in No. 2 was in January of this year 2019 with the re-entry of Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper' "Shallow".
After 56 years, Andy Williams' "It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year" visits the Top Ten. In 1963, "Wonderful" reached No. 7 and - like Mariah's song - visited the chart for several years at Christmas time, many of which did not enter the Top 40.
Eight debuts and two re-entries are recorded this week in the Top 40, in addition to LadBaby's "I Love Sausage Rolls" (No. 2) highlights Jonas Brothers' "Like It's Christmas" (No. 11, so far the highest debut for Jonas Brothers) and the return of the legendary Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" (No. 22). The first time that "White Christmas" reached No. 1 was in 1942, the year it was launched.
It also highlights the new single from Camila Cabello's "My Oh My (Featuring DaBaby)" at No. 37, from her new album "Romance" debuting at No. 1 this week.
This week the unfortunate disappearance of two great artists was announced: Singer and rapper Juice WRLD, whose real name is Jarad Anthony Higgens, has died at the age of 21 after suffering a “medical emergency” while walking through Chicago’s Midway International Airport. Juice WRLD became popular thanks to the cover of the Sting's melody "Shape Of My Heart", "Lucid Dreams", which reached No. 1 in 2018. Since then, Juice imposed hits like "Robbery", "All The Girls Are The Same", "Fine China"and "Armed And Dangerous". This week debuts "Hate Me" (No. 39) where the missing rapper collaborates with Ellie Goulding.
The vocalist of the Swedish duo Roxette, Marie Fredriksson, also left for eternity the victim of a long fight against cancer. Roxette, which won fame in the 1980s and '90s, had seven No. 1 in the Top Singles, such as "The Look", "Dressed For Success", "Dangerous", "Joyride", "Spending My Time" and "Wish I Could Fly." Also the No. 2, "Listen To Your Heart" and "Fading Like a Flower (Every Time You Leave)" and the No. 3 "How Do You Do!". But his greatest success was the ballad "It Must Have Been Love", from the movie "Pretty Woman" (1990), which remained for 10 consecutive weeks at No. 1, matching up until that moment the success achieved by Bing Crosby "White Christmas" (1942-1953, which achieved 15 weeks in total), The Beatles '"Hey Jude" (1968, which achieved 11 weeks at the end) and Bill Haley & His Comets' "(We're Gonna) Rock Around The Clock" ( 1955).

Hi Sergej. Indeed, it took Mariah's Christmas song 25 years to reach the top spot but finally she did it and in the best way: breaking a historical record in my chart (leap 40-1). Only Prince (35-1) and Wham! (27-1) had that precedent. You are quite right about LadBaby, if it wasn't for the cover of "I Love Rock'n'Roll" they didn't get that high. "We Built This City" reached No. 18 earlier this year. Indeed, I was also touched by the disappearance of Marie Fredriksson. For me, Roxette is, perhaps, the best pop-rock band of the 90s. Seven No. 1 confirm it, not counting his other songs that reached the Top Ten. Thank you very much for following me on Spotify. Your playlist is one of my favorites to listen to during my work week. Thank you very much also for the weekly submission of the PDF report: it looks spectacular. A great week before Christmas also for you.
Hello Rockmaker!
Really like the Christmas takeover, including the #1 for Mariah Carey (with a record broken, congratulations to her!), the top 10 entry for "It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year" and the top 40 for "White Christmas"!
I have to say, I wasn't a fan of Ladbaby's "We Built This City" last year and "I Love Sausage Rolls", this is better, but only because it kept the amazing production of the original "I Love Rock 'n' Roll".
Other than that, nice gain for "Arabesque", the top 40 entries for "What If I Never Get Over You" and "Remember You Young" are good, the debut for "My Oh My" is spectacular and a lot of the Christmas re-entries are great!
But other than the Christmas songs, the other big story sadly, are the passings of two artists: Juice WRLD and Marie Fredriksson of Roxette.
I'm not a fan of Juice WRLD music, but I respect the tribute from him in your top 100 (especially with "Lucid Dreams" and "Hate Me" being the best things that Juice WRLD has done) and in your flashback charts. Speaking of the flashback chart, it's wonderful to see the Roxette tracks there too ("The Look", "Joyride", "It Must Have Been Love" and "Listen To Your Heart" were all #1 hits from them, from my chart archives), it's sad that right before 2019 ends, we would lose two music artists (one who had a bright future in music and the other being a musical legend).
What a wonderful chart as always!
Would love to hear, what you think about my new chart I've recently uploaded on Friday, check it out if you have the time!
Have a fantastic week!
P.S. Should have told you two weeks ago, but I follow you on Spotify now!
