Waffle's Current Favourites - Week of December 7, 2024

The Christmas season has arrived in full force, as we now have our 2nd ever holiday themed #1: "A Nonsense Christmas" by Sabrina Carpenter rising up to the top spot...but will it last? It's hard to say, because "buy me presents" jumps up to #2 off its debut. And skipping past "Juno" which actually rose a spot back up to #3, we also have "santa doesn't know you like i do" jumping up to #4. All of this is bad news for Gracie Abrams, as "That's So True" falls off the #1 spot to #5. It could rebound when the Christmas songs start to go away in January, but for now, she's been knocked off the top spot.

And this takes us to our debuts, with the first 2 being from the Wicked soundtrack: "Defying Gravity" by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande at #12, and "Popular" by Ariana Grande at #16. We'll have to see where these end up in the coming weeks, but I'd bet on the former in particular having a real shot at longevity. We also have Maria Sur making her debut on the chart, with "Dance Alone" at #23.
