Waffle's Current Favourites - Week of November 30, 2024

The holidays are here, and therefore, so is the holiday music. There have been a couple of Christmas songs that hit the chart a few years ago, including former #1 "Christmas Without You" by Ava Max, but nothing quite on the scale of what we have this week. Thanks to her recent success on the chart, I decided to listen to Sabrina Carpenter's 2023 Christmas EP fruitcake...and so here we are - a minor album bomb from Sabrina Carpenter. While "That's So True" by Gracie Abrams might've retaken the #1 spot this week, it will probably be short-lived, as we have "A Nonsense Christmas" debuting at #2 - higher than the original "Nonsense" ever got! We'll have to see if it gets any higher in the coming weeks...but it already jumped past last week's #1 "Espresso" down to #3, as well as "Juno" at #4. Finally, we have another Top 5 debut from fruitcake, "buy me presents" at #5. Again, we'll have to see how high it gets...as these songs probably won't end up lasting for very long overall due to their holiday theme.

And of course, there's other debuts as well. At #8, we have "santa doesn't know you like i do" by Sabrina Carpenter, as well as "is it new years yet?" at #12. But the Christmas debuts aren't even limited to just Sabrina, as we have "1 Wish" by Ava Max landing at #18 - the only debut this week that's not over a year old, which is kind of insane. Oh, and completely unrelated to all of this, we also have "You and I" by LÉON debuting at #16 - a song from 2019, which ironically will probably be the debut that lasts the longest of all of these. We also lose quite a few former #1's this week, as "Talk talk" by Charli xcx, "Tears For Fun" by Griff, and both "Casual" and "Femininomenon" by Chappell Roan exit the chart after all reaching #1 back in the summer.
