This week is full of events that don't usually happen. For one, it's not often that albums that once impacted my chart get a resurgence later on, but thanks to the newly released deluxe edition, Gracie Abrams' Good Riddance did just that. After 11 weeks, "I know it won't work" rises back up to #1 for its 2nd week - not the longest gap between weeks at #1, but still pretty uncommon and impressive. This obviously means that skipping past "Hits Different" by Taylor Swift holding at #2, our #1 from last week, "Dance The Night" by Dua Lipa topples to #3. Then we see a small gain for "Double Fantasy" by The Weeknd back up a spot to #4, but finally, we have a new entry to the Top 5, and one of the biggest stories of this week: "Right now" by Gracie Abrams making a huge leap to #5. What can I say...this song really snuck up on me and just gets even better the more I hear it.
...which takes us to the new arrivals, because alongside gains for "Where do we go now?" and "Best", Gracie also has a new song debuting this week, "Unsteady" from the deluxe edition at #13. It's not just her though, we also have "Iykyk" by Bailey Bryan coming in at #18, becoming her first charting entry. Buuut...that's not it, there's one more entry - a returning entry. Re-entries in general aren't that common, and when they do, it's usually not for songs that have already had a solid chart run. It's also not common for songs that are over a year old to be allowed to chart...so what could this mean? Well...thanks to viral resurgence, after first debuting at #10 in August 2019 and leaving in November that year, "Cruel Summer" by Taylor Swift is back baby! Let's see if it reaches a new peak 4 years later...it's currently not that far off at #11.
