Congratulation to The Weeknd who not only remains at number 1 with “Save your tears” but also manages the feat for spending a whole year on the charts without leaving the top 40 for “Blinding Lights” spending its 52nd week on the chart! The last time this happened on my chart was with Hozier’s “Take me to church”. Dua Lipa meanwhile manages a 45th consecutive week in the top 40. Impressive stuff from the 80s inspired tunes. However, there reign in the top 40 may be over by next week due to two main reasons (read further below). Festive favourites by The Pogues & Mariah Carey climb into the top 20 and are big contenders for the number 1 spot over the upcoming weeks. Britney Spears gains the highest new entry on the chart with the release of previous unreleased track “Swimming In The Stars”.

Miley Cyrus holds onto the number 1 album charts with “Plastic Hearts”. She also continues to dominate the top 40 with several tracks taken from her number 1 album.

Bubbling under the chart:

Brenda Lee – Rockin around the Christmas Tree

Gabrielle Aplin & Hannah Grace – Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

Black Eyes Peas & Shakira – Girl Like Me

Celine Dion – O Holy Night

Kelly Clarkson – Underneath The Tree

Band Aid – Do They Know It’s Christmas

Nathan Dawe & Little Mix – No Time For Tears

And more Xmas Tunes......

Potential new entries next week:

Taylor Swift – Willow (lead surprise single off Evermore, plus other album tracks!!!)

Plenty of more Xmas Tunes!

Britney Spears & BackStreet Boys – Matches

Tate McRae – R U Ok?

H.E.R – Hold us together

James Blake – When The Party’s Over

Gwen Stefani – Let Me Reintroduce Myself

JP Saxe & Julia Michaels – Kissing In The Cold

Madison Beer – Boy Shit

With all the potential new entries, The Weeknd & Dua Lipa longrunning tunes may finally leave the chart! (Expect them possibly to return though at some point!)

New albums:

Taylor Swift – Evermore (Deja vu! Shock second album of the year, who would have guessed? Last time, almost every single off the album Folkore, entered the top 40 chart!

I see Xmas songs already taking over. Save your Tears still atop interesting there wondering if it will be album of the year I'm guessing Dermot Kennedy or The Weekend. I haven't listened too much to new songs a bit behind but liked evermore album

Yeah, its been really strange but in the UK, Mariah Carey is already no.1 and Xmas singles hit the official chart back in November. I think people needed some cheer due to COVID. I have therefore also fallen in the trap in listening to Xmas songs. By Xmas, the chart will be dominated by Xmas singles and Taylor Swift Evermore's album! I'm going to check every top 10 album chart this year and score the albums (e.g. no. 1 album = 10 points, no.10 album = 1 points, and just like crown note, we will see who gets the most points. I think The Weeknd, Dermot Kennedy, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa & Sam Fender will be the front runners...Evermore album is another classic. Not much new songs anyway except surprise albums. It will be a Taylor Swift takeover on the chart later this week....

Hi! I loved the rise for "Regardless" and the entry for "A Beautiful Noise". From the Bubbling Under I liked "Girl Like Me" and "No Time For Tears", and from the Potential new entries next week I liked "Let Me Reintroduce Myself". Great chart!
