In an unusual chart this year, the majority of the chart is filled with either Taylor Swift album tracks from “Evermore” or Christmas tunes. Taylor Swift manages to get a double no.1 for the second time this year with “Willow” reaching the top of the singles chart and “Evermore” taking the top spot on the album charts. In fact, Taylor occupies 7 songs in the top 10 and is also at number 2 on the album chart with her former number 1 “folklore”.
The Christmas tunes are rapidly rising and leading the charge are The Pogues with “Fairytale of New York” followed closely behind by Mariah Carey – “AIWFCIY”. Last year, Mariah Carey peaked at number 2 but The Pogues appear to have a slender lead this year.
With all the new entries, The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” slips out of the top 40 for the first time after spending 52 consecutive weeks on the chart. Dua Lipa also slipped out of the chart with “Physical” Both could however re-enter once the Xmas Tunes/ Taylor Swift tracks slip out of the chart.
Next week, the number 1 Xmas song is likely to be a 3 way battle between Taylor Swift’s “Willow”, The Pogues & Mariah Carey. There could be a surprise contender as the days get close towards Xmas Day.
Bubbling under the chart:
Brenda Lee – Rockin around the Christmas Tree
East 17 - Stay Another Day
Leona Lewis - One More Sleep
Gabrielle Aplin - Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas EveryDay
And more Xmas Tunes......

Hey Piran. In terms of song ratings, evermore was very close with Willow. However, it was a clear number 1 for Willow with no major competition predominantly due it being the lead single with a video (similar to folklore where cardigan edged ahead of exile for the same reason despite exile being best song on the album). I know exile edged ahead of cardigan on your chart. It will be a Xmas bomb on the charts on Friday. The most interesting chart is always in January when all the Xmas songs fall and all the re-entries return!

Hi! Unfortunately, I did not see anything special in your chart this week, I'm not a big fan of Taylor Swift, and I'm not celebrating Christmas at all, but enjoy the holiday if you're celebrating!

No worries Amit. I don't really celebrate Xmas either but I love the songs and I like the atmosphere around Xmas, even though its a strange one this year! I feel Taylor has evolved over the years, the songs may grow on you?

Hi Zack, I was shocked seeing how many songs of "evermore" made it to your chart, especially to your top 10 this week! It's really an amazing album! I want to see if she will be able to hold onto the top spot of both charts! Great chart once more!

Lol, well they dominated the chart as there have not been many big songs released recently and its a great album. Expect Xmas songs to take over on the chart coming later this week and then possibly a rebound the following week with Taylor Swift songs climbing back up again perhaps? Its a 3 horse race for Xmas no.1 between Taylor Swift (Willow) and Xmas songs by Mariah Carey and The Pogues...will reveal later this week.

Hey Zack! :)
Our charts are so similar this week, but of course, this shouldn't come to either of us as a surprise by now, given the artist that decided to release a second surprise album of 2020, haha.
Anyway, it's really cool to see Taylor take up seven songs in the Top 10 simultaneously (& the entire Top 7 too!).
We even have the same #1 which is awesome! Was it a clear lead for 'Willow', or was 'Evermore' very close behind it?
It's also cool that the Christmas classics are climbing despite an album bomb week, notably with 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' re-entering & especially with 'Underneath The Tree' debuting.
Good chart once again!
