Previous no.1 “Willow” by Taylor Swift returns to the top of the singles chart (second non consecutive week) following the drop out of the Xmas tunes. She also holds on to the top spot of the album chart for a third week with “Evermore”. If this was not enough, she continues to dominate the top 40 with multiple album tracks still going strong. She occupies 6 singles in the top 10. To me, “Evermore” sounds great in the winter with warm cosy songs (especially since we have had some snow in the UK this week!).
The surprise release last week from Ed Sheeran with “Afterglow” is the biggest climber on the chart leaping from no.40 to no.5! The chart is dominated by over a dozen re-entries including “Blinding Lights” & “Physical”. There are only 2 new entries this week including Eminem at no.17 with “GNAT” and a surprise duet from Mike Posner & Jessie J with “Weaponry” at no.18.
Considering it is new years’ day for new release day Friday, there may not be many new songs for next week’s chart but there could be a few surprises? Justin Bieber is one artist releasing his new single on New Year’s Day titled “Anyone”. He has still never had a solo UK no.1 single on my chart although he did reach no.2 with “Yummy” earlier in 2020. Otherwise, Taylor Swift may battle with Ed Sheeran for another week at the top of the singles chart?
There are rumours that Grimes will be releasing a remix album of “Miss Anthropocene” (the album was my 14th biggest album of 2020 spending 9 weeks in the top 10 and peaking at no.2) so there could be some album tracks entering the top 40 if the album is released? “Delete Forever” was one of my personal faves from her album ending up as my 30th biggest song of 2020.

I still can't get enough of her "Evermore" album. Likley to remain at no.1 for me until Lana Del Rey releases her new album very soon. Happy new year to you too!

Hey Brandon, happy new year to you too. Yeah usually the first chart of the new year will have all the big re-entries again due to lack of new songs. Justin Bieber has a new song out and my fave band London Grammar have a new song out on Monday otherwise its still quiet. If you want to have a look, ive made a list of top 20 albums and top 50 singles (my chart dated 31/12/20) just for your interest. You might find the top 20 album list interesting.

Hi! I loved the re-entries for "Not the End of the World", "Regardless", and from the Bubbling under I loved "Let Me Reintroduce Myself". Great chart!

Hey Zack! :)
It was unsurprisingly an action-packed week here, but I love that Taylor goes back to having more than half of the Top 10 all to herself, with 'Willow' at #1.
I love the big jump for 'Afterglow', as the re-entries for: 'Paradise', 'Exile', 'Blinding Lights', 'Physical' & 'Therefore I Am'!
Good chart as usual.
Happy New Year!
