TikTok-Sea Shanty producer Nathan Evans claims his first Number 1 with his debut single “Wellerman (Remix)”

Scottish producer Nathan Evans climbs to Number 1 with his debut single “Wellerman” which was remixed by 220 Kid and Billen Ted. It is their first ever chart-topper on this list. Nathan Evans rose to fame while remixing and performing sea shanties on TikTok, thus inspiring the ShantyTok movement which was met with viral success. The Scot cleverly translated the TikTok-craze into a proper song, resulting in “Wellerman (Remix)”. The single has already debuted at Number 3 on the Official UK Chart and is gradually climbing the European charts as well.  “Wellerman (Remix)” dethrones Olivia Rodrigo’s “drivers license” which held the Number 1-position for six consecutive weeks.

Dutch hit-singers Snelle and Maan debut at Number 5 with their new single “Blijven Slapen”, a disco-infused song inspired by The Weeknd and Dua Lipa their recent releases. Both Snelle and Maan have had success on this list before. Rapper Snelle initially rose to fame with his 2019-song “Scars”, which was his first Top 20-hit. He later scored a string of Top 10-singles, which included “Reünie”, “Smoorverliefd” and “De Overkant”. Dutch singer Maan also scored her fair share of hits, after she won The Voice of Holland in 2016. Maan peaked at Number 1 three times; “Blijf Bij Mij”, “Hij Is Van Mij” and “Zo Kan Het Dus Ook”. She is one of the highest-scoring Dutch acts of all time. Together, Snelle and Maan are surely looking at another big hit.

This week’s Top 10 sees a lot of movement downwards, but some remain stable or reach a new peak. Dua Lipa remains at Number 3 for a second consecutive week with “We’re Good”, which was taken from the deluxe edition of her sophomore album. Dutch duo Acda en de Munnik remain stable at Number 6 with their comeback song “Als Ik Je Weer Zie”. Riton & The Nightcrawlers reach a new peak at Number 8 with “Friday” which features Mufasa & Hypeman. The song remixes the Nightcrawlers’ 1995-hit “Push the Feeling On”. The song did not chart on this list, but was a big hit across Europe and the group’s native UK.

This week’s Top 40 holds three additional new entries aside from Snelle and Maan their top debut. Joel Corry is new at Number 25, fresh off the success of “Head & Heart” which topped the charts in 2020. For his new track, titled “BED”, he replaces MNEK with RAYE and David Guetta. Dutch rappers Bilal Wahib & Ronnie Flex enter at Number 35 with their track “501”, which references the Levi’s jeans of the same name. The single is Ronnie Flex his forty-sixth entry on this chart. Closing off the Top 40 is “La Noche De Anoche” by Bad Bunny & Rosalía. Both artists are no strangers to success, having scored big Spanish hits over the past two years.

This week, Céline Dion celebrates the 25th anniversary of her album “Falling Into You”. The album was released in 1996 and became a huge commercial and critical success, as it has sold over 32 million copies worldwide and won two Grammy Awards. On this list, “Falling Into You” is Céline Dion her most successful album to date. It has spawned three Number 1s, with the biggest being “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now”. According to last.fm, “Falling Into You” is also my most-streamed Céline Dion album. To see a list of Céline Dion her best-scoring hits on this list, check out the Top 10 below the chart.

Hey Link! :)
I love seeing 'Wellerman' as the new #1, as well as the debut for 'Bed'.
Nice chart as usual!

Hey Piran! Thank you so much for the comment :) "Wellerman" is still going strong and "Bed" is expected to reach a new peak tomorrow. Have a great weekend ahead!

Incredible story here. Like it for the new entry Bed .I'm impressed with your new number 1 .finally Drivers license drops from top .Sadly though Good days missed the top it reminds me of Don't Start now & the boy is mine one of all time songs that missed the top in UK .incredible stuff here........

Hey Brandy! Thank you so much for the comment :) "Bed" is really growing on me. "Wellerman" sits comfortable at Number 1 after six weeks of Olivia Rodrigo. "Good Days" could rebound, I still really like it. Luckily, "Don't Start Now" and "The Boy Is Mine" did reach Number 1 on my list haha :) Have a great weekend!

Hello link100100! I really like that wellerman has gone #1 here! I love the new peaks for friday and astronaut in the ocean. I like the debut for BED too and the debut for La noche at the same(ish) position as my chart. Brilliant chart and have a good week!

Hey George, thank you so much for the comment! "Wellerman" is doing really well right now! "Friday" will peak again tomorrow and "Astronaut in the Ocean" could peak on the next chart. Also funny that "La Noche" also debuted on your final position. Still a good song tho. Have a great weekend :)

Hey Link! I love that 'Wellerman' has managed to overtake the powerful Olivia at the top! It's also great to see the climbs for 'Save Your Tears', 'My Head & My Heart' and 'Your Love [9PM]' - here's hoping they all reach new peaks soon! I'm also loving the debut for 'BED', I think that one is definitely a grower! Great chart again and have a great week! :)

Hey Rector, thank you so much for the comment! "Wellerman" is really growing on me and Olivia's numbers went down sadly. "Save Your Tears" is still doing incredibly. "My Head & My Heart" and "Your Love" are fun songs, but I don't stream them that much. Could peak again next week though. "BED" is such a tune, I absolutely love it. Have a great weekend :)
