Sergej's Year In Music 2021 (The Top 100 Songs of the Year)

Welcome to the Best of 2021 according to my chart.

2021 has been a wonderful year for music. It will be remembered in my chart, as the year where Dua Lipa tied a record with the most #1 songs alongside Elvis Presley and The Beatles, the rise of Maisie Peters and Becky Hill, the returns of Adele and Ed Sheeran and the year where big songs come from many countries, like the USA, UK, Germany, Italy, Austria, France, Netherlands, Israel and Finland.

There are also some special categories that appear at the bottom of the report.

Also I want to give a huge thank you to PirandavylRockmakerBrandyyZack Khanlink100100CJtheDJMusicheadethan i and conorskitchen for commenting on my charts throughout the year, you all make my year truly something special!

Hey Sergej thank you so much for the mention! I've loved seeing your charts this year and I look forward to more interactions through the new year! Now I absolutely adore Maisie as your top song of 2021, Psycho really was such a banger and I'm so glad for it as it helped me find a huge love for such an incredible artist! I'm hoping she releases more music next year! I definitely enjoyed both Dopamine & Friday this year, such bangers! Save Your Tears was a bop, Remember was such a summer hit and also helped me fall in love with Becky too! John Hughes Movie is also a banger and I loved Love Again, I think its amazing that she has scored so many #1's on your chart, she's incredible! ZITTI E BUONI was such a great Eurovision entry and I love Maneskin so much, and I'm glad you do too, My Heart Goes is such a catchy song and You by Regard was an underrated bop! I Love your chart of the year so much and I look forward to comparing charts and music taste in the new year! <3

PS my top 100 songs of 2021 will be published next sunday!!!

Hey Conor!
Glad that you like most of the songs on here.
Maisie Peters is such an incredible artist, hopefully next year will continue her uprise!
Glad that you also love "Love Again", I love Dua Lipa and was a fan of her since "Be The One" in 2016 and in the 5 years she scored a lot of #1 songs, I don't think that record will be topped in a while.
Thank you for your comment, can't wait for your top 100 songs of 2021!
Looking forward for a new year and more amazing music!

Hey Sergej! Great yearly roundup, I would expect nothing less. Glad 2 see "Psycho" as the Song of the Year 2021, a song that, thanks to you, I also got to know and was recently in my Top 5. I'm also pleased to see "Mohicani", "Dopamine", "Save Your Tears" and "John Hughes Movie" in the Top 10. My former Number One "Love Again", "You Signed Up For This" (which is slowly but surely rising in my chart), "ZITTI E BUONI" and "River" in the Top 20. I was surprised to see "The Way" a bit down and I'm glad to see "Leave The Door Open" and the haunting "Do The Television" in the top 30. I celebrate "You", "Take My Breath", "I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE", "Wellerman" and "We're Good" in the top half of the annual chart. Great songs like "Higher Power," "Little Bit Of Love," "Bad Habits," "Sister Ray," "Where Are You Now," "My Universe," "INDUSTRY BABY," "Seventeen Going Under" and - especially - "Traitor" make the top 100. Knowing that you are a big Dua Lipa fan I was surprised not to see the hit "Levitating" on the chart but I understand that perhaps it figured in the 2020 annual chart. Excellent compilation of the musical year. I'm also glad that you have adopted the show-type system to award the best of the year (where Maisie Peters is unquestionably the Artist of the Year!). And I thank U very much for the generous mention of Rockmaker in your Introduction/Resume of the chart, no doubt also your help was very special in this year that is about to end and I'm very grateful for it. Best wishes for the New Year!

Hey Rockmaker!
Glad that you like my yearly roundup, I was inspired by your 2019 year-end list, that is why I adopted the show-type system myself.
Very happy that you like a lot of the songs.
Also, "Levitating" did make my Year-End list last year, it was at #7, one of my favourite songs from "Future Nostalgia" (the solo version, not the Blessed Madonna remixed version and not the DaBaby version, which I liked at first a lot and it was the version that it got higher, but after the DaBaby controversy, I replaced it with the original and I prefer it over the other versions)
If you want to check my Year-End list from last year, here is the link to it: https://crownnote.com/charts/sergejdordij/my-top-100-songs-of-2020
Wishing you all the best for the New Year too!

Hey Sergej! I'm honored that you mentioned me. I often get to know new music thanks to you, so keep up the good work. Your year list has become a nice summary of 2021. I'm not surprised to see "Pyscho" at the top and I'm very happy with "Save Your Tears" in the top 10, the song that tops my year list. I'm wishing you all the best for 2022!

Hey davyl!
Glad that you like the mention and "Save Your Tears" in my top 10.
Thank you for your comment and I wish you all the best for 2022 as well.

Hey Sergej! :)
Firstly, I really appreciate the shoutout in your introduction! It's really been a pleasure to read through your charts this year & I can't wait to do the same throughout 2022.
As for the chart itself, I absolutely love seeing 'Psycho' as the song of the year, along with Maisie also appearing at the top of five different categories outside of the singles chart, including both the albums chart & artists chart!
Another moment I really liked from your charts this year was seeing Dua tie the record for most #1's in your chart, but the memory that'll never leave my mind is Taylor getting her first ever #1 single at the start of the month.
Thank you once again for sharing your incredible music taste with us & for all the effort that you put into all of the personal chart communities that we've both part of together!
I wish you a happy & healthy Christmas break.
All the very best for 2022!

Hey Piran!
Glad that you like the shoutout and I'm happy that you like reading my chart through this year and hopefully next year too.
Of course you would be happy that Maisie dominated my year with fantastic music and I'm glad that Taylor got her first #1 on my chart this year, I can see it in my Year-End list for the new year.
Thank you for your comment and I wish you a happy & healthy break and all the best for 2022 as well.

Hey Sergej, impressed to see Maisie Peters have 2 songs in your top 10 with "psycho" as your biggest songs of 2021 (and still underrated in my opinion) along with "John Hughes Movie" which for me the latter was my personal fave and the song that introduced me to her. She reminds me a bit of Gabrielle Aplin. Also impressive that she has the album and best female of the year. I dont think she got nominated at the Brits which is a shame but a hidden gem to us. "Save your tears" was also a big song for me this year and I can see it makes your top 10. At no.59, Tom Grennan's breakthrough hit was a big banger this year. Also nice to see Sam Fender in your top 100. Surprised not to see "Driving licence" unless i missed it. Great chart along with some breaking of records on your chart this year.

Hey Zack,
I feel in love with Maisie Peters this year, she is a very underrated singer. I got introduced to her thanks to her collaboration with JP Saxe, called "Maybe Don't" in 2020, but this year was her year in my opinion.
Glad that you like seeing "Save Your Tears" in my top 10 and Tom Grennan and Sam Fender having a hit in my Year-End list.
"Drivers License" did miss my Year-End chart because it didn't have enough points to make it to my list.
Thank you for your comment.

Hey Sergej! I don't recognize some songs on here mainly because I didn't know you until the middle of the year, but disregarding them, what an amazing Top 100 in total! In a year dominated by big names, I'm glad artists like Maisie Peters had big breakthroughs, Maisie obviously holds the number 1 here with 'Psycho', but 'John Hughes Movie', 'You Signed Up For This', 'Funeral' and 'Villain' all the made the list too! Maisie also brings home a lot of gold in the extra categories at the bottom (I absolutely adore this layout by the way, you've worked hard on this and it's shown). I'll focus on only the Top 25 for pointing out songs I love or we will be here forever, but 'Psycho' at #1, 'Mohicani' at #4, 'Dopamine' at #5 (This is a welcome shock, I thought this would be lower), 'Friday', 'Save Your Tears', 'John Hughes Movie' and 'Remember' at #6 to #9. I thought 'Love Again' would go Top 10 here, but it misses out at #11, 'Never Going Home', 'You Signed Up For This' and 'Makumba' at #13-#15 (3 very different songs by the way) Not to mention 'Fireworks' at #16, 'ZITTI E BUONI' at #19 and 'River' at #20. 'Didn't Make It' seems surprisingly low here at #22, but glad it made the cut anyways. 'Island', 'The Way' and 'Cold Heart' all close off the big Top 25 and all are great in their own way. Wow that was a mouthful it just shows the amazing year for music in general and obviously your great taste! Congrats on making it through another confusing year, but I'll be around if you ever need me in the new year! And thanks for the shoutout at the start, it's been a pleasure watching your charts on both here and the server. Here's to 2022! :)

Hey there. Thank you for commenting on my chart! I will definitely be following your charts for the years to come. I am so glad there is some more love for Maisie Peters, although, she is fresh pop, I still believe she has potential. Also glad to see LUCID by Rina and Sister Ray by Foxes. There is many artist I have not had the opportunity to listen, but who knows 2022 is a new year for music and god knows who I will stumble on!
