Lizzo edges in on Number 1 as Harry Styles scores ninth week atop the chart

The race for Number 1 gets closer and closer. Harry Styles takes the crown for a ninth week with “As It Was”, supported by his thrilling new album Harry’s House. Its lead single is again the most-streamed track of the week with over twenty combined streams. It now further extends its record as the longest-running Number 1 of 2022 so far. Harry Styles beats Lizzo to the top position, who stays in second place for a fifth week with her viral hit “About Damn Time”. Despite being blocked from the famed Number 1-peak, “About Damn Time” is already shaping up to be Lizzo’s biggest hit to date, surpassing “Truth Hurts” [#12] and nearing “Good As Hell” [#9]. She is also not far behind on Harry’s lead, having been streamed over fifteen times this week.

Further down, North Shields-singer Sam Fender moves into the Top 10 with his latest single “Getting Started”. The new single is taken from the Brit’s massively successful second studio album Seventeen Going Under, which previously spawned the Number 1-title track and chart-topper “Spit of You”. The upbeat “Getting Started” is supported by a new music video and great live performances by Sam Fender. It marks Fender his seventh Top 10-single on my chart.

Dutch hit machine Antoon scores the top debut of the week with “Olivia”, debuting barely outside the Top 10 at #11. This year has already been a massive successful for the young talent. He scored back-to-back Number 1s with “Vluchtstrook” and “Hallo” – of which the latter currently stands as the highest-scoring single of 2022 so far – while the catchy “Hotelschool” [#5] went viral on Dutch TikTok. Some high profile collaborations with Ronnie Flex and Bilal Wahib have also been teased this year, perhaps to be included on Antoon’s second upcoming album. The new “Olivia” marks Antoon his eight Top 40-entry and his second-highest debut week yet.

Meanwhile, alt-pop legend Kate Bush makes a surprise Top 40-return with her 1985-hit “Running Up That Hill”. The song was featured in the latest season of the popular Netflix-show Stranger Things. Over the past few weeks, the song went viral on TikTok and introduced the legend that is Kate Bush to a new generation. Since my personal charting began in 1995, this Kate Bush-classic has not entered my Top 40 before, making this its debut. The new modern classic begins its chart journey at #21 this week.

Nathan Dawe & Ella Henderson debut at #35 with their new collaboration “21 Reasons”, which samples Rune’s summer classic “Calabria”. Nathan Dawe previously scored gold-certified hit with “No Time For Tears” featuring Little Mix. Dutch indie-singer MEAU debuts at #38 with her new heartfelt ballad “Tegen De Klippen Op”. Last year, she broke through with her multi-platinum Number 1-hit “Dat Heb Jij Gedaan”. Hopefully, her new song can capture similar success.
