PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson hold a comfortable lead

After four weeks in second place, PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson finally made it to the top with their cross-over “Stateside”. It is taken from a remix collection of Fancy That, smartly titled Fancy Some More?, which reworked all the original songs from PinkPantheress her original album to feature other artists, including the likes of Kylie Minogue and JADE. The remix “Stateside” featuring Zara Larsson became an immediate hit, mainly thanks to Zara Larsson’s resurgence on both the charts and online. In a close race to the top, “Stateside” clinches the top position for a fourth time. The single is boosted by Alysa Liu her gold-winning performance at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. “Stateside” ranks as PinkPantheress her second Number 1, only preceded by 2022’s breakout “The Boy’s a Liar” featuring Ice Spice. For Zara Larsson, “Stateside” marks her fifth Number 1-hit. “Stateside” also now ties with Zara’s previous chart-topper “Midnight Sun”, as her longest-running Number 1-entry to date. Pink and Zara’s closest competition is currently Bella Kay, who hopes to turn her “iloveitiloveitiloveit” into her “drivers license”.

The 2020s has been an interesting decade for girl groups so far. While the 1990s till mid-2010s were backed by iconic and undeniably popular girl groups, the 2020s have struggled to deliver a girl group that has managed to captivate the entire globe. Blackpink have dominated K-Pop and cultivated a very devoted fanbase worldwide, though that did not necessarily translate into worldwide Top 10-hits akin to the Spice Girls, Destiny’s Child or the Sugababes. However, last year, something shifted. Blackpink became the first girl group of this decade to reach Number 1, doing so with the techno-laced “Jump”, and KATSEYE broke through with the Rita Ora-reject “Gabriela”. It now paves the way for FLO. In 2023, Jorja Douglas, Stella Quaresma, and Renée Downer made their first appearance on my chart and the UK Singles Chart with a small song named “Cardboard Box”. Fresh, very Sugababes-y, smart and cool – it introduced the world to FLO. The British girl group was well received online, filling in a gap left by Little Mix, and the trio released their first EP. Last year, FLO bagged a Grammy-nom for their debut album. Determined to break through like KATSEYE, or even top the chart like Blackpink, FLO fire at all cylinders with “Leak It”. The song soars to #5, becoming FLO’s first Top 10-hit to date.

Dominic Fike revitalises his musical career with the third season of Euphoria fast approaching. He has been on the charts on and off again since 2019’s breakout “3 Nights”. The song was a straight Number 1-hit and launched his additional EP Don’t Forget About Me into the mainstream. Follow-up singles varied in success, with highlights including the Top 10-hit “Vampire” and the Jennie cross-over “Love Hangover”. Ahead of Euphoria next weekend, Dominic Fike proves he can deliver us another Top 10-song, with “Babydoll” moving to #8 this week. Funnily, it is originally a cut from Don’t Forget About Me, originally released in 2018. It continues define the 2020s as the decade of the sleeper hit. Other sleeper hits from this year alone include Zara “Lush Life” and Bad Bunny’s “Tití Me Pregunto”.

Miley Cyrus gives us the best of both worlds at #23 with “Younger You”, an ode to her young self and Hannah Montana. She first performed the song at the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special from Disney. Hannah Montana was, of course, Miley’s big breakout role when she was only a teen. The hit series ran from 2006 to 2011, made Miley an international teen star, spawned numerous hits and a full on film. Around 2009, Miley wanted to break with her Hannah Montana-image – releasing the bratty “Can’t Be Tamed” – before she famously got a buzzcut and launched her highly controversial Bangerz era. It made Miley a true star, shedding her Hannah Montana wig, and it earned her three big Number 1-hits on here. Over the years, Miley’s image has softened and switched a lot, but she never went back to her Disney-like image. To celebrate Hannah Montana’s 20th Anniversary, Miley finally returned to her roots. “Younger You” is a bittersweet song and an ode to a character that gave Miley a lot, but also took a lot. With “Younger You”, Miley bags the highest new entry of this week.

Zeeland-based pop-rock group BLØF continue their well-received comeback at #30 with their newest song “Ik Ben Niet Meer Bang”. The band originally enjoyed a lot of success in the Noughties and the mid-10s, and recently, they returned to the Top 40 with other artists, including Bente and Racoon. On the new “Ik Ben Niet Meer Bang”, BLØF is joined by Hannah Mae. She broke through in 2023 with a feature on Metejoor’s Number 1-hit “Wat Wil Je Van Mij” before scoring acclaimed solo hits as well. Another Dutch collaboration debuts a few places down – YouTuber-turned-singer Russo collaborates with Emma Heesters on “Liefdesverdriet” at #39. Russo’s been making songs on YouTube for a good few years and he recently collaborated with the likes of De Bankzitters and Roxy Dekker. He scored a Top 3-hit last year with Luna on “Voorbestemd”. This time, Russo teams up with Emma Heesters. She recently re-entered the public eye after a sudden battle with cervical cancer. Near the end of her battle, Emma Heesters released the fight song “Alles Wordt Beter” which became an immediate Top 10-hit.

Hi there!

Nice to see "Stateside" at the top, "iloveitiloveitiloveit" reaching the runner-up position, "Leak It" jumping big to the to 5, "American Girls" having a new peak in the top 10 (The same position in my chart too!), as well as the new peaks for "The Visitor", "Click Clack Symphony.", "White Keys" and "Dinner Party" and the debut for "Younger You".

Great chart!
Take care.
